Nasal dilator for sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea can have many causes. You can often see how it is advertised that a nasal dilator should solve all problems. Unfortunately, this does not correspond to reality. The causes can be of various types. If it is because you suffer from a high intake phenomenon, then this may well be possible. If the body does not get enough air through the nose, it automatically opens the mouth, which favors the collapse of the throat. The cold air can thus directly into the lungs through the throat.

If nasal breathing is not the problem, either a CPAP or a jaw protrusion splint helps.

A protrusion splint holds the lower jaw in a fixed position during sleep so that the tongue cannot fall back and block the airways. In contrast to a CPAP machine, many patients get along very well with it. The efficiency of a mandibular protrusion is very high.
