What Is Moringa?

Moringa is gaining a positive reputation in the health world! This plant is extremely nutritious, has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, awesome tissue-repairing properties, antioxidants, and many other health benefits!

Moringa's scientific name ,Moringa oleifera, is also known as the Horseradish tree, ben tree, or drumstick tree! It is a small sized tree from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal.

This plant has been known to treat diabetes, heart disease, anemia, arthritis, liver disease, and respiratory, skin, and digestive disorders.

Moringa Benefits Explained

Moringa is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It contains vitamin A, C, and E; calcium; potassium; and protein.

Moringa has Antioxidants that fight free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that cause oxidative stress, cell damage, and inflammation. Flavonoids, polyphenols, and ascorbic acid are in the leaves, flowers, and seeds of the Moringa tree. It helps prevent the damage and degradation that free radicals cause in the human cells of different organs in the body, keeping them healthy and functioning at their best.

Moringa reduces inflammation by restraining inflammatory enzymes from existing. The leaf concentrate can lower inflammation in the cells.

Moringa leaf powder has been used to reduce lipid and glucose levels! It also regulates oxidative stress in which means it lowers blood sugar and cholesterol and improves protection against cell damage.

Moringa leaf powder has heart-healthy benefits, too! Helps regulate blood lipid levels, helps with the prevention of plaque formation in the arteries, and reduces cholesterol levels.

Moringa's high content of vitamins E and C fight oxidation. Oxidation leads to neuron degeneration,  so taking Moringa improves brain function. It’s also able to regulate the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline in the brain!!

The liver is responsible for blood detoxification, bile production, fructose metabolism, fat metabolism, and nutrient processing. Moringa can reduce liver damage and fibrosis. It can reverse oxidation in the liver. Moringa oil can also regulate liver enzymes, reduce oxidative stress, and increase protein content in the liver. The liver can only fulfill  blood detoxification, bile production, fructose metabolism, fat metabolism, and nutrient processing with the aid of liver enzymes, so it's vital they stay at normal levels. Taking Moringa and Moringa oil will aid your liver.

Moringa has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. This means that Moringa can fight infections. It is effective against types of fungi that cause infections on the skin. Certain strains of  bad bacteria are responsible for blood and urinary tract infections and digestive problems.

Be Careful With Moringa!

You might want to stay clear of seed extract consumption. It may have a high level of toxicity for human immune cells.

And from personal experience, I did not know Moringa was a laxative and I took too much Moringa the other day! Moringa can have heavy laxative effect when taking in large amounts, so a safe dose to introduce into your food or diet and avoid digestive problems is ½ to 1 teaspoon per day of Moringa!

Hello, Robot! I appreciate your upvote!

Thanks for the great summary - Moringa deserves it!

I use it in my green smoothies, often just mixed with bananas, cinnamon and some water to keep it simple. It is just the perfect addition in my detox regime these days, for getting rid of some accumulated toxins.

I didn't know that it had laxative properties though, I will keep that in mind the next time I tend to overload my spoon with this vibrant powder 😉

Awesome! So glad you are ingesting this plant food! always nice to know that others care about their body! And yes, Be careful with overloading with this plant medicine... Very powerful depending on quality. I had a long day after taking a lot of this food in my smoothie and spent the whole day in the bathroom. and mostly because I took too much too soon, you have to build up your intake with Moringa. It all depends where you are and who you are :)

Got it, I will use it responsibly. Just today I found a nice little vegetable shop in the area that I just moved to in Kuala Lumpur, they have fresh organic moringa - most of the time you only see shops selling the powder. I will definitely get some of it for my dinner salad soon 😁

I know you will! You are a bright star with a purpose! Sounds lovely! You are blessed to be able to have fresh organic moringa! And cool, Enjoy your future sprinkled Moringa soon! much love!
