UK Health Regulators have reportedly approved Moderna's COVID-19 vaccination for use in children aged 12 to 17.

The approval comes more than two months after Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccination and BioNTech received approval for use in children aged 12 to 15 years. The Moderna vaccine was recommended for use in adolescents by European regulators in July and is awaiting US authorization.

For now, it has been approved for people aged 18 and over in the UK. On the other hand, the UK Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization or JCVI has given permission to vaccinate children aged 16 to 17 years for the first dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccination, on 4 August.

This will be done before schools will reopen in September. The JCVI will later make a decision whether the vaccine will be distributed or not. For now, they have not provided further information on this matter.
