Did you know that Vitamin D is the "Power Source" for our bodies? But what's up, why aren't we getting it from the sun or supplements?steemCreated with Sketch.

We all know we should be eating healthy and making sure we get our vitamins and minerals, right? So what's the big deal about Vitamin D specifically? Well, we're finding out that Vitamin D is actually the most important vitamin by far because it acts as the "voltage" in our bodies that makes everything else run; it's vital for every single cell. And it's now emerging that Vitamin D deficiency is actually the root cause of most serious illnesses and dysfunctions.

Unfortunately, we're also discovering that for some reason, the vast majority of the world's population is Vitamin D deficient - even, for example, women living in rural India who are in the sun all day long, but 95% of whom are Vitamin D deficient according to the Vitamin D Council. So we're not getting our Vitamin D from sunlight like we think. Nor are we getting it from supplements: Supplements are said to have an average bioavailability of only 0%-3%, meaning we may be taking them but we're not necessarily absorbing them.

So what's going on? So far it's still a matter of speculation. But it turns out Vitamin D is the only vitamin that the human body produces by itself. What this means is that it's still inert in its raw form (sunlight, supplements, foods) and has to undergo complex biochemical reactions in our bodies before it can be used. And for some unknown reason, we humans as a race have apparently lost most of our ability to convert Vitamin D to its biologically active form, which is absolutely vital to cellular communication and good health.

The video below features Alice Branton - whom I'm pleased to be associated with and who I can personally attest to as being a highly conscientious, meticulous researcher - talking about her upcoming book in which she explores the "Vitamin D myth". I'll be posting more on this topic too, as more information becomes available about the new, bioavailble supplements being developed right now to combat the problem.

Thanks for reading/watching!
