How does the drug work:

The drug inhibits an enzyme named Phosphodiesterase 5 leading to build up of nucleotides like cGMP which by many downstream pathways leads to blood vessel dilatation.

1. First and foremost, the main condition which comes to our mind when soneone, the dreaded male sexual dysfunction a.k.a impotence. The drug by the above mentioned mechanism increases the penile blood flow and retention of blood in muscles of the penis leading to erection.

2.Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
It is one of the most dreaded but equally rare disease in medicine.It can present with blood in sputum, difficulty in breathing and reduced exercise capacity and is often fatal. It occurs due to increased presssure in the arteries of the lung.The drug sildenafil due to it vasodilatory properties can reduce the blood pressure.

3.Altitude sickness
