Hi ,fellow steemians. This is my repost of my article in curioushacker.net .

This may be a bit long, you may skim through it.But please do not ignore it.We are made to believe in many lies and this is one of those...love you all

Maintaining order rather than correcting disorder is the ultimate principle of wisdom. To cure disease after it has appeared is like digging a well when one feels thirsty, or forging weapons after the war has already begun. —NEI JING, 2ND CENTURY BC

I tried many diets from eat-anything to raw vegan not because i was fat or particularly unhealthy – apart from being a chronic insomniac, but partly to check out the hype of various diets and most importantly to cure my low energy and brain-fog.(Here’s the distillation of my learning over the years,I’am especially thankful to David Perlmutter,Dave Asprey and many others. )Here i’am not going to suggest a diet or some super foods, but a life style – to thrive and experience life more fully. What if i say you could not just trim down your waist line but crank up your immune system to be disease free and most importantly have optimal brain function- all that with some simple hacks in your  lifestyle.

 Ok,let’s get started.

First things first – what makes us fat ?Answer boils down to – lifestyle and genetics. Here’s the good news – environment and lifestyle effects our genetic disposition to a large extent.

Food is a powerful epigenetic modulator —meaning it can change our DNA for better or worse. For almost the entire existence of our species, glucose—the body’s major source of energy for most cells—has been scarce.Agriculure is a fairly recent practice – in evolutionary terms .We were hunter gatherers much of our time on planet – we  relied on animal fat and protein and could not have had any meaningful exposure to carbohydrates, except perhaps in the late summer when fruit ripened. Interestingly, this type of carbohydrate would have tended to increase fat creation and deposition so we could get through the winter when food and calories were less available. We evolved to thrive that way – not on ice wheat and pasta.Of course we can re-write our wiring but it takes 40 to 70 thousand years to bring such noticeable changes in our genome.Somehow we have been led to believe that dietary fat will raise our cholesterol, which will in turn increase our risk for heart attacks and strokes. This notion continues to prevail despite research continuously proving otherwise.(if you don’t trust me ,just google “The cholesterol fallacy”,just the growing uproar from nutritionists and researcher’s would astonish you.Of course there is an interesting story behind the myth)

In 2010, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published an astonishing study that revealed the truth behind urban legends about fat, especially the saturated kind, and heart disease. The study was a retrospective evaluation of twenty-one previous medical reports involving more than three hundred forty thousand subjects followed from periods of five to twenty-three years. It concluded that “intake of saturated fat was not associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, or cardiovascular disease.” In comparing the lowest to the highest consumption of saturated fat, the actual risk for coronary heart disease was 19 percent lower in the group consuming the highest amount of saturated fat.

 The authors also stated:

“Our results suggested a publication bias, such that studies with significant associations tended to be received more favorably for publication.”

What the authors are implying is that when other studies presented conclusions that were more familiar to the mainstream (i.e., fat causes heart disease), not to mention more attractive to Big Pharma, they were more likely to get published.

The truth is we thrive on saturated fats.If this is the truth how come we believed in cholesterol fallacy for so long.

Dismissing the junk science.

In the 1950s, a scientist named Ancel Keys shattered the world of nutrition by claiming, with some pretty convincing research, that saturated fat caused heart disease.Food chemists immediately began concocting low-fat foods. When removing the fat from these foods, they had to replace it with something. The two choices were sugar or protein. Well, sugar tastes better than protein and is more affordable, so excessive sugar or corn syrup were pumped into most low-fat “diet” foods. The low-fat diet craze immediately stormed the scene and has unfortunately stuck around ever since, despite the fact that we later learned Keys threw out data that didn’t fit his model. In other words, he manipulated the research to make it look like it backed his theory that saturated fat caused heart disease, but in fact the science didn’t support his theory at all.(here’s the actual video of the day – even scientists then opposing to this junk science.)

Study after study showing cholesterol consumption not only improves cognition but shows no correlation to heart disease. So here’s the bottom line – to see the difference yourself I suggest you to start with a simple morning ritual – bullet-proof coffee. (I strongly urge everybody to make your own research,my only intention is to dispel false beliefs. If you are curious check out BULLETPROOF DIET(I don't suggest buying his products, only get the basic philosophy)

It was first introduced by Dave Asprey a multimillionaire and venture capitalist in silicon valley.(he has an interesting story about how he stumbled on it.).It’s a coffee with lots of fat. Here's how he drinks it.

Ingredients for Bulletproof Coffee or tea

 1.Grass fed cow butter – 1tbsp.

2.1 tbsp of coconut oil.

Add those to your normal coffee/green tea before drinking.(I prefer tea in evenings with added honey for sleeping like a baby).

Go slow, don’t try to overload. I suggest you to start with your own version of coffee/tea keeping it as close to Dave’s as possible. You can then reduce on carbohydrates and sugars and replace with healthy animal fats and protein.

Don’t take my word granted,I suggest you try these books for more inspiration: ENJOY
