Now up to 52 avian flu cases in the US.
Half of them have been among California dairy workers. No human to human transmission has been documented and we haven't seen the mutations that would make such transmission more efficient.
The seasonal flu shot won't protect against it, but we do have avian flu candidate vaccines in case we need them. You should get your seasonal flu shot this year anyways. A co-infection would be one of the ways that the risk of avian flu could increase.
