🗣️GOD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU💫

📜TEXT:2 CHRONICLES 20:1-19📜

🔑📖KEY VERSE: "And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's" (2 CHRONICLES 20:15).

We live in a world that opposes God, despises everything He has ordained for His children and is pitched in a lifelong battle with believers for taking sides with Him. Most times, the battle is so fierce that hard-pressed believers no longer feel the nearness of God. As a result, they begin to doubt their chance of triumphing over the devil, their implacable enemy.

It is only human to be scared in the face of danger, especially through the onslaught of the devil, as it happened to Jehoshaphat. What set him apart from many others is that he knew how to respond to such a frightening situation: he took the case directly to God. Once he learnt that a confederation of enemy nations had come in full force and with great numbers against Judah, King Jehoshaphat, though frightened, turned to the Lord in prayers and proclaimed a fast in his nation.

Gathered with his people in the house of the Lord, Jehoshaphat reminded God about His sovereignty in heaven and on earth, His power and might that no one can withstand, His previous conquest for Israel, giving the land of Canaan as inheritance to the children of Abraham. He confessed that they knew "not what to do: but our eyes are upon thee." God, in turn, responded promptly through the assuring prophecy of Jahaziel. Judah was not to be afraid nor would they need to fight because the battle was God's and He would grant them victory.

In the face of the trials and troubles of life, we should learn not to trust in our own devices, or allow fear to freeze our faith. Instead, we should put our trust in God, and turn to Him in prayers. As His children, He would not abandon us to face the struggles alone, nor would He allow the enemy to triumph over us. He does not hesitate to fight for us. We should confidently trust Him to intervene on our behalf and grant us victory.

✍🏽THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When battles arise, pray, praise and calmly trust God for victory.

📜THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:REVELATION 4-6📜

MEDITATION

When troubles knocks

1. Response to fear
a. The king's first response to the fearful news was seeking the face of God, vv1-3. That is one of the things God is meant for. God first.

b. Corporate or family threats are better attacked with united front by like-minded godly family. The seriousness and the urgency at times demand fasting, v4. This was what Jehoshaphat did.

Question
There are always alternative responses to fearful threats or experiences. What is generally your immediate response to fearful experiences?
True and lasting solution comes from God alone even though He will use people.

2. Rejigging your faith
There are steps to take that will lift up your faith while seeking His face.
a. Remember Providence.
Meditate and bring to remembrance the might, power and invincibility of God, v6. Ask yourself, Is this too great for God to do?
b. Recall the past.
Form the habit of recalling the relevant past manifestations of God both in the past and contemporary times, vv7,8.
c. Revise the promises.
To every challenge is at least two promises of God that can handle it, v9.
d. Report the provocation.
Next is to report to God what the enemy is doing and ask for divine intervention, vv10-12. See how the kind did his own.
e. Readiness to obey prophesies.
Be ready to listen to the voice of God on what to do next. God may not use your preconceived method, vv14-17. Hearing His voice is the right of every true believer.
f. Reassurance through praises.
Your faith in God is evidenced through praises and adoration to God, vv18,19. At this stage, all fears give way to assurance that the victory is certain.

Ponder
Think of two promises and two wonders of the past that are relevant to your challenges and threats.
