A selfie is a self portrait photograph, usually taken with a smartphone that can be held in the hand or supported by a selfie stick. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.
They are for vanity, generally flattering, and are casual in nature (or made to look casual). "Selfie" usually refers to pictures taken with the camera at arm's length, rather than those taken with a self-timer or remote control. A selfie, however, can include several topics. As long as the photo is taken by one of the subjects presented, it is considered a selfie.
