Yesterday Sunday 21st in the city of Mérida in Venezuela, my first ever Steem Powered Social Project turned into reality. @freddy0274 together with his family and a couple of friends, cooked and gave away 100 breakfasts. They did Arepas filled with ham and cheese, and Nestea. It was all given to the relatives of the patients of the HULA Hospital (Hospital Universitario de los Andes).

Everything went smoothly and the people getting the food were very thankful about it. Also Freddy and his family were very happy to be able to help, they felt blessed for having the opportunity to do this (Freddy´s words).

Freddy got the support from one if his neighbors, who lended him her Truck, to carry all the food and the several liters of Nestea. And she told him that the car is available for him next time he needs it for another event like this one.

What I wanted to prove myself is that we can turn our ideas into reality. With Steems Blockchain the possibilities are endless. The fact that we can make instant transactions, to send money to anywhere in the world in 3 seconds and with no fees just blows my mind. Imagine if I had to send Freddy the money to run this event using the traditional methods? It would have increased our costs greatly, reducing our success rate.

So, my point is that we have no excuses. Wether its a Beach Cleanup, planting trees, social projects, recycling projects, food or even water donations, all is possible to achieve with Steemit. You can do remote funding, connect with people in areas in need, organize whatever you want to do. With Steemit, you can connect with people from all over the world and you can send them funds in seconds. So... if that is not POWER TO THE PEOPLE then what is it?

I feel like now we have the chance to really make a change, leave a mark, do something about it. About whatever thing that is bugging you, you now have the tools to transform the reality, and turn it into a nicer one.

We are planning our next event for next Sunday, this time giving away 200 breakfasts.

Here are some pictures from todays event, hope you like them!

I want to thank @freddy0274, his family and friends for all what they did today. They put a lot of effort into this, getting up super early in the morning so the people would be getting freshly cooked food. They also arranged many things, like buying all the food, and going to the Hospital to give it to the people. I really appreciate your help guys, and really hope we can make this a weekly thing.

Thanks everyone for reading and for the support!

This is quite an interesting read, the content is good. Thanks.

a very nice humanitarian activity sir. glad to see what you do for them. though not giving more with them, but at least we have shared a little happiness with them. I come from Indonesia and joined in social activities under the red cross Indonesia. we are currently trying to build a humanitarian community in steemit, from Indonesia to the world in realizing the peace of the world by sharing happiness for those who need it. best regards sir, glad to get acquainted with you, please sir reply.

currently I and the team are looking for donor support to realize the activities we have planned.

here is one of my plans to build a humanitarian community engaged in social and this is the design of our logo.

This is awesome! It's so cool that we can see Steemit changing lives, or just making people have a better day. Hospitals are never fun, so I'm sure the arapas helped people who were already having a hard time.

I went to the steemit meet-up in Hanoi yesterday and it's so amazing to see how much impact a small little upvote can have on people.

Great work!

Indeed! It is great to use the Blockchain in such ways.

Helping others is always great.

Thanks for your comment!

I think with this you are not just helping 100 people. With this post you are inspiring maybe 100 stemian and in the big picture maybe thats worth hundreds of people. Really good job man.

Thats a great way to see it. Hopefully this inspires more people :)

Thanks for your support Kaan !

Hola!
