Sending helpful wishes to my friend who is going through a big change

My good buddy who introduced me to steemit has recently lost his job due to the workplace burning down in a fire. From what I gather, it is a historic site, but instead of dispare, he has been volunteering at a clothes donation place.

What would you do to help the people around you, who are in need of fundamental sustenance?

I'm hoping to get inspired, as I am a couple of provences over with the means to bring with me some sorts of supplies and whatnots...
