英雄志：武圣关羽（Heroes：Martial Saint Guan Yu）

关羽（字云长），东汉末年蜀汉名将，被后世尊称为“武圣”。他与刘备、张飞桃园结义，共同辅佐刘备创建蜀汉基业。关羽忠勇仁义，武艺高强，是三国时期的著名英雄。
Guan Yu (styled Yunchang) was a renowned general of Shu Han during the late Eastern Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period. Revered posthumously as the "Saint of War," he is celebrated for his loyalty, righteousness, and martial prowess. Alongside Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, Guan Yu formed the famous brotherhood of the Peach Garden, pledging to restore the Han dynasty and establishing the foundation of Shu Han.

关羽生于河东解县（今山西运城），年轻时因杀人逃亡，改名换姓，后来在涿郡（今河北涿州）与刘备、张飞相识并结为兄弟，共同立志匡扶汉室。东汉末年，天下大乱，群雄并起，关羽随刘备辗转各地，参与了许多重要战役。
Guan Yu was born in Xie County, Hedong (present-day Yuncheng, Shanxi). In his youth, he had to flee his hometown after killing a man and changed his name to evade capture. Eventually, he met Liu Bei and Zhang Fei in Zhuo County (modern Zhuozhou, Hebei), where they became sworn brothers, vowing to support each other and to serve the Han dynasty. Amid the chaos of the late Eastern Han period, Guan Yu followed Liu Bei through numerous trials and battles.

在曹操挟天子以令诸侯期间，关羽曾暂时投靠曹操。曹操对关羽非常礼遇，封他为偏将军，但关羽心系刘备。当得知刘备的下落后，关羽辞别曹操，千里走单骑，过五关斩六将，终于与刘备会合。这段经历成为关羽忠义的典范，千古传颂。
During the time when Cao Cao held Emperor Xian hostage, Guan Yu temporarily served under Cao Cao. Cao Cao treated Guan Yu with great respect and conferred upon him the title of General. However, Guan Yu’s loyalty remained with Liu Bei. Upon learning Liu Bei’s whereabouts, Guan Yu left Cao Cao, famously riding alone for a thousand miles, passing five passes, and slaying six generals, to reunite with Liu Bei. This episode became a legendary testament to his loyalty and righteousness.

赤壁之战后，刘备夺取荆州，关羽被任命为荆州刺史，镇守荆州。公元219年，关羽发动襄樊之战，包围曹仁，并斩杀名将庞德，水淹七军，威震华夏。然而，由于孙权背盟偷袭荆州，关羽腹背受敌，最终在麦城被俘，不屈而死。
After the Battle of Red Cliffs, Liu Bei seized Jingzhou and appointed Guan Yu as the governor to defend the region. In 219 AD, Guan Yu launched the Battle of Xiangyang against Cao Ren, capturing and executing the famed general Pang De and flooding the enemy’s camps, earning widespread acclaim. However, when Sun Quan betrayed their alliance and attacked Jingzhou, Guan Yu found himself surrounded on multiple fronts. Eventually, he was captured at Maicheng and executed for refusing to surrender.

关羽的忠勇和仁义得到了后世的高度评价，被封为“武圣”。他不仅在中国传统文化中被尊为忠义的象征，还被广泛信仰，庙宇遍布各地。关羽的形象也成为文学和戏剧作品中的重要角色，影响深远。
Guan Yu’s valor and loyalty earned him immense respect in subsequent generations, and he was posthumously deified as the "Saint of War." He is revered not only in traditional Chinese culture as a symbol of loyalty and righteousness but also widely worshipped, with temples dedicated to him across various regions. His character has been immortalized in literature and drama, particularly in the historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," where he plays a significant role.
