Hiking & Snowboarding - Menina planina / Slovenia
Hello dear Steemians!
Finally I have time to write new blog. Last couple of days I had to work hard so I didn't had so much time to write about my last winter hiking adventures.
Last Wednesday me and my friends went hiking and freeride snowboarding on Mount Špic on Menina planina (1,499 or 4,917 ft).
I woke up at 5 AM and made myself a cup of coffee and breakfast. Packed up my gear and around 6:30 AM I picked up @shakazula and other member from our ''Marvins Freeride Crew''🤣. At around 8 AM we came to our starting point at 1,000 m or 3,280 ft. It was really beautiful sunny morning with temperature around -15°C.
After 20 minutes of hiking on the road path finally leads us in the snowy forest. Snowfall in past 2 days gave us 30-40 cm of fresh powder and we knew that our ride down with snowboards will be awesome. After 45 minutes of hiking we started asking each other:''what if we go up, ride down and than do that again?''. Not a bad idea😃
When we came out of the forest we had a quick stop to took off our jackets. After we all took some photos we started hiking towards the top. This was the hardest part of our path because snow was very deep.
We were lucky because one man was hiking in front of us so it was a little bit easier for us to trudge through the fresh snow with snowboards on our backpacks.
After around 1 hour and 45 minutes we reached the top where we enjoyed in warm sun rays. We found a nice place with no wind in front terrace of old cabin.
After a lunch break it was time to put on our snowboards and ride down in amazing powder🤩. You can check video from that day on @shakazula DTube channel. My friend lend me GoPro 5 and Shaka also filmed our ride with his camera.
It was really hard to rode with a camera in my hand so for the next time I have to put it on my helmet.
Shakazula with his ninja dance moves after sick ride down and right before our second start towards the top. We reached the top second time in hour and a half. Our plan was chilling on top for another hour or more but in 30 minutes clouds covered the sun and we decided that is time to ride back to our car.
Hope you enjoyed :)
Have a nice day!
Great!! And just the other day i was asking Shakazula about Menina planina in winter! Thanks for sharing, I hope i get the chance to go there this winter!

Nature does not recognize jokes; she is always truthful, always serious, always strict; she is always right; mistakes and errors come from people.

Yes, Slovenian mountains this winter are perfect :)
Same in Norway, it's been a long while since we've had so much snow! I love it!
