Camping on the Tallest Mountain in Texas

in #hiking6 years ago (edited)

A two part series we created as a way to let the world know about one of the best hiking experiences a person can have in the great state of Texas.

"Go hike to the top of Texas", they said. "It will be fun", they said. With heavy packs, extreme knee pain and high wind gusts of 30-40mph, THEY WERE RIGHT! Please enjoy this video as we make our 3.6 mile ascent to one of the most beautiful camping areas in all of Texas. Maybe even the country. Guadalupe Mountains National Park is home to many diverse and spectacular hiking options. The most notable is the Guadalupe Peak trail that zig zags up the mountain and leads to the highest point in all of Texas. Do we make it to the peak? You will have to watch and find out. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE.

Guadalupe National Park Part 1

After the most strenuous hike we have encountered we finally make it to a camp spot and rest our bones. To see that great experience watch our previous video "Backpacking to Guadalupe Peak". In this video we leave our heavy gear at camp and proceed to accomplish the goal we set out to accomplish. We make it to the very top of the highest point in Texas, Guadalupe Peak. We sign the guest book (find us) and meet some wonderful hikers up there. As we soak in the wonders before making our way back to the parking lot, we ponder various aspects of our adventure. What did we forget this time? What are we going to do after this? How much water do we have left? Can we afford to continue our adventure? These are all questions we constantly ask ourselves out there. As a bonus we introduce you to Whites City, NM. 7 miles from Carlsbad Caverns, this quaint little camp spot is the perfect place to pitch a tent in between destinations out there in the desert.
