Teungku Chik Pante kulu
Tgk Chik Pante Kulu is the full name of Tgk Haji Muhammad. He is a close friend of Tgk Chik Di Tiro who when teenagers are both studying religion in Dayah Tiro led by Teungku Chik Muhammad Amin Dayah Cut, his uncle Tgk Chik Di Tiro.
From Dayah Tiro Tgk Chik Pante Kulu then deepen his religious knowledge to Mecca. There, in addition to studying he made contacts with leaders of the Wahabi movement spearheaded by the great scholar Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab and the reform movement launched by Said Jamaluddin of Afghanistan.
According to Ali Hasjmy in the book Culture of Aceh in History, while in Mecca, Tgk Chik Pante Kulu in addition to deepening his religious knowledge is also very interested in art, especially works of poets in the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW, such as Hasan bin Sabit, Abdullah bin Malik, and Kaab bin Zubair. This made him the most famous Aceh poet of all time through his phenomenal Hikayat Prang Sabi.
After ten years of studying in Mecca, he returned to Aceh in 1881. On the way back when sailing from Jeddah to Penang he wrote Hikayat Pran Sabi. When he arrived in Aceh he handed the saga to Tgk Chik Di Tiro and together encouraged the spirit to fight against the Dutch colonization until then martyrs. His body was buried in Lam Leuet, Indrapuri Sub-district. He abandoned two wives, while his children were already martyred in the war he had inflicted.
