I believe this is a great video. What is amazing is seeing how the population changed.

few notes
1)Roman empire at it's pick had less population than Italy of today

  1. Most nations have less than 1000 years of History
  2. Greeks are the most ancient, after 146 bc were part of the Roman empire. There is a clear distinction in the eastern part hellenistic culture was more dominant.
  3. After 400 AD barbaric tribes starting to invade the western part . Visigoths and Ostrogoths and other Germanic tribes. Slavic people start moving in the balkans
  4. Franks dominate France and create the biggest empire in the west.
  5. British population start to explode after 1700's.
  6. Holy Roman Empire, tries to unite the germanic tribes of central Europe
  7. The Iberian Peninsula destiny change forever after arabs conquer it.
  8. Lombard's are Dominant in Italy. Venice is small but wealthy.
    10)Most of Europeans are descendants of Germanic tribes.
  9. In North East Intruders from Asia like Huns and Mongols come into the mix along with Slavs move into the south
  10. Bulgaria, Poland,Hungary are some of the oldest nations formed that try to secure or expand their power
