Major historic event in the US

July 20 in 1881 the Sioux Indian Chief Sitting Bull did surrender to the US federal troops. This was 5 years after the famous battle at Little Big horn hin defeated the troops of General Custer. Sitting Bull accepted a promise by the troops of amnesty for him and his following.

Sitting Bull was a charismatic leader and capable warrior with visionary thinking - we would need some here on steemit too. From 1867 onwards he became the overall chief of the Sioux nation. I read about American Natives a lot when I was a kid and their story and their fights are still very important to me. Not sure this is a part of US history everyone likes to discuss but the US did not very good here in terms of handling these people.

Sitting Bull died December 15, 1890 when Indian police entered his house in South Dakota to arrest him. The details are still a mystery and not clear but he was shot during this day. The world and America lost a significant personality!

Still nowadays he is known across the world and a true American natives legend.
