What a Day - The Golden Gate Bridge Went Live

One of the most famous architectural artwork has been open and born on January 5, 1933. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco - every European dreams of having one ride over this bridge! A majestic construction work! Actually the work on the bridge began that day. The idea to create this bridge is old, actually was already thought during the gold rush times started in 1849.

The project was really expensive and money was an issue straight from the start where bonds were planned to finance, did not work but in 1932 the Bank of America agreed to buy the entire project - official reason was to support the local economy. The Bridge was built and opened in 1937as the longest bridge span worldwide. To date the bridge is still one of the most famous American landmarks and probably THE symbol of San Francisco.
