Opera Star Maria Callas stops performance in front of high society
A scandal in Rome by the famous soprano Maria Callas took place on January 2, 1958. The Diva walks off after the first act of a gala performance claiming to be ill and having lost her voice - all in front of the Italian president and the entire local and international high society. Maria got criticized a lot on this and it is still mystery what really happened - what the reasons have been. She has been accused of being capricious as there had been whistles during one of her arias - a true Diva! Officially she continued to claim she got no voice.
