Parichand Mitra was born in Kolkata on 22nd July 1814 in a merchant family. His father's name is Ramnarayan Mitra. He was a paper and a hundi businessman. Parichand Mitra was a versatile personality.

Education career

In a childhood, after a gurmahasha, a Persian learned to a Munshi. Hindus were admitted to Eleventh Class for English proficiency. At that time, Deorozio was a famous professor at Hindu College. He was his disciple and prophet. [1]

He was one of the leaders of the Bengal Renaissance. He was the librarian of Calcutta Public Library. He knew Persian, Bengali and English well. He earned fame by writing many books in Bengali and English languages. He edited a monthly magazine for women. His associate was Radhanath Sikder. He also used to do welfare work. He was a member of the Senate of Calcutta University. He was also a member of the animal tribunal council. Parichand Mitra was one of the entrepreneurs of Bethune Society and British India Society. He became a member of the Enlightenment Conference in 1838. His English-language articles were printed in Englishman, Indian Field, Calcutta Review, Hindu Patriot, Friend of India. He fought against police torture and was successful. She gave recognition to his wife's activities in the field of education. She supported widowhood. He opposes child marriage and polygamy. He made a lot of money by importing and exporting and trading rice. [1]
