#2 The Secret Genius - Kim Jong Un
The Secret Genius
While on the outside, most would consider Kim Jong Un to be a simple, squishy and *very* bipolar buffoon, on the inside is a calculating and manipulative dictator. One must ask the question "How did he survive for so long?"
Kim has been the dictator of North Korea since 2011 after his father's death, and is seen as a **God** amongst his people. People that have been denied information from the outside, and had their speech repressed for so long have merely forgotten the era before, or, could even believe it is *better* than what they experienced before, with their ex-ruler Japan committing atrocities on them.
When a leader keeps the wealth and hunger so low that the majority of the population have to fear famine consistently, there is not a populace that is *willing* to overthrow their leader. It's a simple case of not wanting to bite the only hand that feeds you *(Even if it's very little)*. Even with intervention from NATO, people could defend their leader to the very end, similarly to how Japan *would* have defended their King.
The Art of Diplomacy
It's evident that, with the threat of nuclear war and the constant provocation of his neighbours, Kim doesn't understand Diplomacy - or at least that's what it looks like. On the surface level, Kim is a maniacal aggressor that wants to destroy **The World**. But I believe there's other ways to look at this. From a different lens, it looks as though he is provoking for gain and to make his country seem powerful. He has a lot to gain from coming to talks with other countries to "negotiate" a peace treaty and to fund his completely broken economy.
So diplomatically he plays "poorly", but in fact he speaks a different diplomatic language to the rest of us.
Conclusion
If you look at something from a different lens, you may understand what is truly happening.
