in #history7 years ago

Greetings steemians yesterday I was talking to a man in the queue to buy food (something very common in Venezuela) and was a history teacher we were commenting on the decline of values currently in my country, among other things until we ended up talking about THE ORIGIN OF THE ALPHABET something that aroused my curiosity too much. I researched and I will share with you a bit since the subject is very extensive and interesting.

Let's start by knowing a little about the Phoenicians:

They were a merchant people from Phenicia "Country of Palms".

Phenicia was a kingdom of Antiquity that was located in the coastal plain that is currently Lebanon, in the eastern Mediterranean. This civilization was developed between the 10th and 5th centuries BC. C., time in which establishes colonies throughout North Africa and southern Europe.

The story tells that the beginnings for the alphabet began with the Sumerians and their cuneiform writing through pictograms.

It is important to highlight the meaning of the word alphabet

Alphabet word concept:

It is a system of signs that expresses the elementary sounds of language. Its name comes from the Latin word alphabetum, formed with the names of the first two letters of the Greek alphabet, alpha and beta.

Speaking of origin: About the Phoenician alphabet it is still unknown what it was in specific comes from.

What is known is that:
1). The Mesopotamians with their cuneiform writing was the first example that the Phoenicians used to create their writing.
2). Egyptian culture and its hieroglyphs also influenced.

  1. Your alphabet is composed of 22 letters only consonants.
  2. His writing is in horizontal lines, from right to left.

The Phoenicians simplified and created the alphabet with which they could pronounce any word.

They will ask themselves: Why do I focus on the Phoenician alphabet?.

Simple because that's where our alphabet comes from, which is currently used in many parts of the world.

Here we have the Phoenician alphabet and the Latin alphabet.

We can summarize that because of our need to express ourselves and communicate, the alphabet was born, which through the ages has evolved, has adapted it in different ways for current cultures and various regions of the world

As I mentioned the subject is extensive however I wrote what I considered necessary to arouse their intrigue and desire to investigate.

Thank you for reading, I know that there is a lot of fabric to be cut, however I hope you liked it
