On This Day In History: Anne Frank Was Captured, Please Resteem And Never Forget

in #history7 years ago

On This Day Of August 4th 1944 A Young Girl Was Captured And That Girl's Name Was Anne Frank.

The Nazi Gestapo acting on a tip from a unknown person, raided a warehouse in Amsterdam where they found Anne Frank and her family in hiding. With the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, Anne Franks father Otto Frank  moved his family into hiding. The Nazi parties persecution of Jews was at its height, and Otto Frank would do whatever it took to protect his family. For 25 months the Frank family hid in this secret and secluded section of a warehouse, aided by Christian friends who would bring them food and supplies.  During this time 13 year old Anne Frank would write her diary. Her diary would serve as testament to millions of Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust.

Anne's diary documented her everyday experiences.  Her relationship with her family, the ever growing dangers of living in a place controlled by the Nazi regime and her 2 years spent in hiding. Lets think about how this young girl and her family were able to remain quiet for 2 years to avoid detection. Living everyday in fear that they would be discovered and sent to the Nazi death camps. Then a shred of hope as Anne and her family learn that Allies have landed in Normandy. Would her long awaited and prayed for liberation of Holland finally be here?

On August 1st 1944 the last entry was made in her diary and Anne's dream of liberation would come to an end. The Gestapo raided the warehouse where the Frank family was hiding and placed them under arrest along with the two christians that were aiding them. Anne and her family were first sent to a concentration camp in Holland before being transferred to Auschwitz death camp and finally Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. Living in such horrid conditions, both Anne and her sister caught typhus and died.  The camp was liberated just 2 months later. Anne's father Otto was the only one in the family to survive and on his return to Amsterdam he was given Anne's diary by one of the women who help shelter him and his family. The diary was overlooked by the Gestapo during the raid. Otto had the diary published which became a instant best seller and over the years has been translated into over 50 different languages.

This young girls diary will forever touch my heart and act as a constant reminder of the suffering an entire people went through. We need to make sure the Legacy of Anne Frank is taught to our children and to do anything and everything as the human race to prevent this from happening again. To the survivors of this genocide and to the families of those who lost a loved one, I Will Never Forget The Suffering You Went Through. God Bless

Anne Frank And Her Family
