I love interesting cultural research like this. Its pretty tragic, and I do not think the situation was entirely unique to the Maori either sadly. Now I suppose it is up to us to learn about history and how the Maori did things precolonization, and try and make amends/progress. De-colonization I suppose.
Very inspiring in a sorta sad way, but thank you for writing such a thoughtful and well written piece about an important part of history!

Also just what the heck though, I seriously can't even understand the mindset of the colonists who just show up and make frikin fake ass decrees all over the place. It is not an easy thing to overcome and change though
