RE: When I was a boy: Part two (My father's memories as a boy living through World War Two)
Thank you for retelling you fathers story. He sounds like a real character. It’s hard to watch your fathers health fail, embrace every moment you can. I lost my father to Melanoma 4 years ago. ( the curse of that white British skin and too much sun)
Ah, yes it seems everyone has lost someone to cancer. We’re going through it right now, again. I’m sorry your father succumbed.
Yes, my old dad huh? It’s interesting because when he’d tell me the stories I could see him doing them, being that way. He was a hard worker, tireless and with such a strong work ethic. He’d work all day at his job and then work at home gardening, make our school lunches, play with us, paint and then read us or make up bedtime stories. It’s a shame to see him waste away. Dementia, and cancer sucks ass.
Thanks for reading. The stories will take a dark turn at some stage when I get onto some of the more horrific stories from the occupation. But there’s funny ones too. Glad you enjoy them.
