Folk art in Poland is changing rapidly, which is the effect of vast changes that happened here since 1989. Stanisław Koguciuk was one of the most gifted folk painters, who drew inspiration both from traditional folk art and from surrounding reality.

His exhibition can be seen now in the Old Town in Warsaw in the MAW museum in Dziekania street.


Koguciuk was born in Ukraine but moved to Chełm region after 1945. He worked as a stove-maker.


Later he met a curator from Chełm museum who specialized in abstract art. They often talked and she had big influence on his art. So a Koguciuk's style was formed by two factors, folk art and abstract painting.
