Feroz Khan, a Muslim scholar of Sanskrit, has gone into hiding after protests from rightwing Hindu students claiming that as a Muslim, he cannot teach Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the classical language of Hinduism. One placard read: “A Muslim cannot teach us our religion.” They vowed to keep protesting until Khan was transferred to another post. Khan has been stunned at the protests. Hindu priests in the area have come out and supported him. The university has stood firm issuing a statement that says Khan's appointment was final. Khan has left the university for the moment.

I liked the discussion of 'what-aboutism'. That is just a way to deflect attention from a problem. Discrimination anywhere should be highlighted. As for this teacher, his own religion should not be relevant if he is a qualified academic in his subject. So-called nationalism seems to be another excuse for discriminating against those who are 'other'. Call it out for what it is.
