Greetings to everyone on the platform, it brings me much excitement open up to and to interact with the topic. We the football lovers just know exciting this world cup from group stages, through to the round of 16 and now at the quarter finals. And this stage of the competition is all the more pressure wouldn’t you agree? And we are fortunate to witness one greatest football matches between two great nations, I’m definitely talking about the face-off between the fanciest nation we have in the competition, England and France the defending champions.

Two of the favorites nations to much likely to win the competition this year face-off on Saturday at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The two teams are keen to becoming champions of the 2022 World Cup Qatar, with France looking very shape and determine to defend the title and let their pride continue. And the English boys with their slogan from the start of the competition saying, “it’s coming home” needs no explanation but simply means they are willing to do anything they can bring it to England. The two teams have faced each other thirty-one (31) times but only twice in a FIFA World Cup competition, and it was England that got the better of the champions in those two encounters at the FIFA World Cup and also have been the dominant side with 17 win, 9 nine defeats and 5 draws. What an impressive from the English side, but as to whether they would be able to maintain it this Saturday against this top-class defending champion of the French is what would be real challenge, probably the greatest challenge they’ll have to face in this competition if they’re to win the competition.

The English team lead and headed by Gareth Southgate has been promising in the 2022 World Cup Qatar, though the team and the manager continue to face criticism of the choice of players he chooses for their matches in the competition, but he has proved to us several times that he surely knows what he is doing. With his side containing unbelievable young and experience talents in the game of football, it will get confusing and pressurizing to make just eleven selections out of great superb 26 players. The team started their 2022 World Cup Qatar journey in a very high fashion win over IR Iran in their first group stage match, with a 6 – 2 victory win that got the English hopes very up high. The English have only won the FIFA World Cup just once and that was back in 1966, and they haven’t been able to bring the joyful moment back to England though with their very talented past stars in the game, none of them have been the hero that English hoped for. And the English hasn’t also had much to celebrate and boost about in the game since their only major trophy was that World Cup back in 1966. All their hopes and expectations weren’t up to the standards.

They have been able to reach the quarter finals stage six (6) times in their journey to glory, have made it to the semifinals only twice, the world cup they won and the last FIFA World Cup in Russia. And they are sure looking forward and with great determinations to move forward from this quarter finals as well. The English side do not lack the talents to pull it out though, with their world class players all over Europe that needs no introduction. The likes of one of the most decorated forwards and finishers we have currently, the English captain Harry Kane, Harry Maguire, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling (who unfortunately has returned back to England due to a family mater but is hoping toing the squad soon) and Marcus Rashford, just mention a few. But does this Southgate boys have what it takes to bring the monstrous impressive form of the French to a halt?

The French team, the defending champions of the FIFA World Cup and two (2) times champions of the World Cup and 2006 runner-up. This team sure do know to put up a fight when it comes to the World Cup, they have reached the quarter finals stage eight (8) times and progressed to the semifinals two (2) times. These champions headed by Didier Deschamps still got an eye for the title are willing to fight hard for it. They are currently ranked fourth 4th on the planet by the 2022 FIFA rankings, and will be facing-off with the fifth (5th) best team on the planet England come Saturday, the rankings seem fair doesn’t it? The French team started their world cup journey too with an impressive statement win over Australia in 4 – 1 victory, but have faced a defeat to Tunisia in their last game of the group stages unlike their opponents this Saturday. A part from that they have showed incredible performances in the competition from the group stages to through the round of 16 and now to the quarter finals. And they have no plans of stopping there at the quarter finals losing to England, defending the title is the French’s priority in this World Cup.

And their squad of promising talents are bond to deliver these expectations for their country like they did back in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, are undoubtable the best squad to deliver this task on Saturday. Well known players like the 2022 Ballon’dor winner Karim Benzema (who unfortunately haven’t started in any match yet due to an injury), Olivier Giroud the record setting player of the French, Kylian Mbappe, Huge Lloris, Tchoumeni, Osmanu Dembele, just to mention a few. With head coach Didier Deschamps who led them to glory in 1988 and headed his nation in the last World Cup 2018, and he is willing to make that mark again.
