Stingy people, myth or reality?

in Shine with Steem25 days ago

Greetings friends. I'm participating in a contest and it's an exciting topic again organized by @hive-106183 entitled "stinginess, myth or reality"

Stinginess is the quality of not being able to give things to people and especially to those in need. When we say someone is stingy, many may presume that the stingy person is a rich and wealthy person, but the truth is even those who do not have much can still be stingy. Giving doesn't necessarily mean money or even possessions, it may include ideas, experiences, advice, connections or things that can help better the lives of others.

Stingy people ensure that they do not disclose such information as the believe others will be better than them at last. There are many people who have adopted the quality of being stingy with reasons best known to them. Some were not brought up in a generous household and so they grow to be people who can't give. Others are expecting things to be given them in return and so they only give to those who can return back the favour, still many outrightly want to be the only one to “shine” as it were and so they make sure that they don't give anything of value to anyone no matter how difficult a situation may be, they decide to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear.

Do you know someone close to you who is stingy? Tell us why.

Sure, there are stingy people everywhere and I know a handful 😅
I term this set of people as stingy simply because they have refused to give, and of course I try not to have feelings of entitlement and to be very open with people, but despite that these ones have refused to share any knowledge they have with others and have withheld every financial assistance that could aid those in need, for this reason I call such people stingy

💰 Are there differences between being a saver and being stingy?

There's a big difference between a stingy person and a saver just as there's a difference between a stingy person and a private person.

A stingy person
. This one priorities acquiring wealth, money and other valuable possessions over experiences, friends and other goals that involves mingling with people.

. Can be unwilling to render assistance to people who may need it irrespective of how dire their situation is.

. May struggle with feelings of guilt after spending money on his or herself because it feels like the money has been wasted

. In extreme cases a stingy person even hold back from purchasing necessities of life just to keep saving.

A saver
This one is more of a private person
. Spends money intentionally on things of value and makes conscious decisions

. May render assistance to people when they approach him or her but may not go to the needy and offer to help first

. Willing to give advice and experiences to other when in need. Doesn't hold back from caring

. Saves money to use for important things that concerns others and himself and not just saving to amass wealth

. Feels happy and contented after purchasing something for which he saved up for.

💰 Have you had any experience with a partner who was stingy? Tell us about it.

I had a close person who I wouldn't describe as a friend who was really stingy. The individual was raised in a wealthy home and had so many possessions but when the time came for a monetary contribution at work for something that would benefit this person, the individual clearly refused to contribute. After much pestering and even nearly physical fights, he reluctantly contributed. After the item was purchased, he made use of it than every other person. That indeed was the negative quality of being stingy.

💰 It is said that statistically men are more stingy than women, what can you say about this based on your gender?

Well, I do not know the statistics of men who are stingy but it depends on the context of the situation. Is it couples, friends, parents, siblings or workmates. Much depends on the situation at hand and what value is to be given..is it in terms of money, advice or help? Whatever the case, I feel like both genders are stingy in various ways. We can't blame it all on the men because we still have numerous men who are generous over wholesome things.

I've seen lots of stingy females as well as lots of stingy males.
So, since the context is very much unclear it would be safe to assume that both genders can be stingy if they want to. A person might decide to give miss A a gift and deny mr A of that same gift. You can't say the person is outrightly stingy because they may be valid reasons for such action.

💰 There is a Venezuelan saying that goes: "You are more tight-fisted than an old lady on a motorcycle." If you could refresh or replace the last thing, what would you put on?

Well, I would say You are more tight fisted than a snail with its shell tightly closed 🤷😅

Thanks for reading ♥️
