Stingy people, myth or reality?

Stingy people are usually given different names because of their selfish attitude. Stingy people are usually called “gum hands” because of their selfish attitudes and not always willing to give to others. They are self-centred and greedy people who think only about themselves, what they can gain from others and not what they can give to others. I have seen many of them displaying their attitudes in different ways.

Yes, I have seen many of them just like I've mentioned above. I had a friend in my university days. We were close such that she could ask or request anything from me and I willingly give it to her because she was my friend. But whenever I have issues and go to her, she will give all manner of excuses trying to defend or tell reasons why she can't give to me. Either she will say it's her sister's item or she will say that she had plans for the item.

Again, I also knew a guy who was stingy even with himself. I once met him eating a certain meal, and so I decided to ask why he didn't add all the ingredients to the food because I knew he could afford them. He said, “I don't want to waste the money, that's too much.” I began to wonder if buying food was a waste of money or resources.

The fact is that stingy people don't give, or they feel bad or compelled to give out a thing, even to themselves and other people.

Yes, there are differences between being a saver and a stingy person.

A saver may want to save up to meet a target, but a stingy person sees giving out as a waste.

A saver denies himself some things because he has a goal to achieve, but a stingy person has no target or goal. The thing is, he just doesn't want to give out.

A saver may adjust to his normal lifestyle because he is compelled to deny himself or others something because of the target he had. But a stingy person will never adjust back because a stingy attitude is his lifestyle.

A saver is bent by situations or conditions, while stinginess is an attitude, a permanent lifestyle that the individual finds it difficult to adjust to.

No, I've never encountered a partner like that. By God's grace, my husband thinks of others more than his own self. He puts the welfare of others before his own, and he also gives whenever he has it and can also afford it. Except things that are not within his reach.

This is quite laughable at the moment. Statistically, I can't tell this. I must say that these attitudes or traits are found in both males and females. I can't really place which gender is more stingy.

”Your tight-fisted hands can only be broken by armed rubbers.” Meaning, it is only an armed rubber that can get something from a stingy person.
