SLC S21W3/ Traditional Games
My little friend came to visit me today in my student lounge; her mom is the woman I purchase 99% of my foodstuffs from, so from the day I helped her with her homework and she scored 100%, she has never stopped visiting; she can bang in 5 times in a day only to say, Uncle. How are you? This little girl disturbs me a lot. Today she asked me why I don't have a TV in my room, and I told her I am a student and a TV will stop me from being focused. She needed something to entertain herself, and I remember traditional games.
What is the name of the traditional game you selected? In your own words, explain how to play |
---|
I needed to hide from this girl today, but it wasn't possible, so we played hide and seek; the other I played is Sac Race, and I will be explaining both.
Hide and seek;
Hider |
Come on, do you remember the Legend of the Seeker? Cheese So first you need a seeker and a hider.
Form a group of two or three, then make a choice of the hider and the seeker among the children; you must agree on the time to be called for everyone to run to their hiding place. The seeker then counts and everyone runs to their hiding place and the search begins
Sac Race
Sac Race |
For the Sac Race since she was the only one I set a timer seeing she reach a particular destination at that time, the flag remain in he front and on counting, on your marks, ready and go, she is expected to pick the sac get in and starts hopping.
What are your rules? Did you make any changes to the rules to suit you? |
---|
- One of the hiders is to tie the seeker.
- Another rule is that the hider must maintain the position he took.
- Another rule is that the seeker will be the one counting (the reason is so that he will not hear the voice of the hider and track their position).
- The seeker is only permitted to lose the rope tied to the eye when he/she has caught someone.
- If the seeker cannot catch anyone, he/she can always make funny moves to make the hiders laugh and expose their position.
No changes were made to these rules.
Of the characteristics of traditional games that we have discussed, which ones do you think are present in the traditional game you chose? 1 point |
---|
Almost all the characteristics were present; you don't need a specific place to play it; it can be played anywhere.
The rules are so simple, you don't need a referee, just adherence to the rules.
For hide and seek, you don't need a costume like it will require in other modern games like football for the identification of teams. Materials are easy to access and simple.
It is not like electronic games where you wait for an electricity input before you start the game.
Did the kids have fun? Share your experience playing this traditional game with them. Feel free to tell us about the best moments you experienced during the activity |

It was fun and funny, I must say this child enjoyed this game two games where played SAC RACE and HID AND SEEK but I decided to talk more about one since it will be more elaborate, now one experience I observed is that the seeker became tired when he sought for long without catching anybody, at some point some hiders where also tired and wanted to feel what it was like to become a seeker with their eyes tied, one child wanted to cheat as a seeker, the cloth loses from a child I tie and she saw everyone, at this point, everyone changed their position, she became the seeker as well why I hid, another experience I had was she fell while looking for me, that is part of the game so that, but there shouldn't be things that can injure around but chairs, table, and things must be around so that she will think she bombarded with someone and at the same time changes her direction so that the search will be difficult.
