I've noticed that the Robins here will go for seeds at the end of winter, lack of bugs, berries, and worms I imagine. Nuts and seeds are a good alternate protein source for them.
The rest of the year they don't seem to touch the seeds.
Still cold at night, but into the 40s during the afternoon. I'm not complaining! I did put out some apple slices for the poor guy.
