I don't panic easily but this case was different

The eagle was coming down again. It was hovering high in the sky when suddenly, making a semicircle, it came down rapidly, and in a single swoosh, it caught the piece of flesh in its claws, and again, making the same semicircle, it went up.

It has sat on the high tower of the graveyard and has started digging its yellow beak into the piece of flesh again. A light mist has spread in the park and is spreading far and wide around the graveyard. There is a kind of uncertainty in the air. The ruins of the old graveyard are scattered everywhere.

In this mist, its round dome looks even more gigantic. I forget whose tomb this is, but I am sure I knew it. Despite the mist in the atmosphere, the shadow of this dome covers the entire grassy field where I am sitting, due to which the emptiness in the air has increased even more, and I have started feeling even more lonely, and a kind of panic is surrounding me.

The eagle has flown from the tower and is again hovering in the sky, maybe in search of her next prey. I can see it coming down with its beak lowered, and its sharp eyes fixed on the ground. It was again circling around.

I feel as if its wings are getting longer and its size is swelling like that of some terrifying creature. I don't know when and where it will land, aiming for its target.

I remember the person who once told me we can see the eagles hovering in the sky, but we cannot see those invisible 'eagles' hovering in the atmosphere like these, who come down and attack in the same way, and in a single attack, either leave that person bleeding or change the direction of his life forever.

I came here for an evening walk, and no matter how much burden was on my heart and mind, I never stopped walking. But today was different. When I returned home after about an hour and stepped inside, I found that my house was deserted.

And then I came to know that you were gone and remembered your eyes, which were looking at me before going for a walk. Not finding you at home, at first, my self-esteem was hurt because I didn't know what you were thinking before leaving, you did not say what was on your mind. But soon, I started feeling nervous again while sitting in this lonely house.

I came out of the house and saw you walking slowly in the grass field and came to the wide path, which as if circles the tomb and joins the path leading to the entrance of the park. I know that at this speed, you will soon reach the gate of the park and disappear from my sight.

You turned from the corner of the mausoleum and started walking towards the square, where there are many benches and tired old people sitting to rest. After walking some distance, you stopped again. You had reached a turn, and before taking the turn, you looked back. Are you looking at me? Have you heard that I have reached the park and am slowly walking behind you?

Have you stopped hoping I will come and try to convince you to forgive me? Is it my illusion or your ego that you will not move towards me even if you want to?

But after stopping for a few moments, you again started moving towards the tomb. I moved as I felt I had only a few moments left to meet you. If I do not meet you now, I will never meet you in this life. And I don't know why, my throat started getting choked thinking about this.

I had taken a few steps forward when a shadow running on the ground crossed my path. A long and wide shadow, floating as if it were crossing my path, went away. I looked up, and my heart sank. The eagle was hovering above our heads. Is it an eagle, but its wings are so big and its yellow beak is long, bent forward? And there is a fearful gleam in its small, sharp eyes. Penick attacked me once again.

The eagle began to circle above us in the sky, and its shadow was crossing my path again, and I felt as if it wanted to pounce on me. I started running towards you, and I wanted to shout and warn you, but I was so distressed to see the eagle hovering with its wings spread that words were not coming out of my mouth. My throat was getting dry, and my legs were getting heavy. I wanted to reach you quickly. I felt as if I was not able to cross the shadow.

The eagle had started coming down. Its shadow was spreading so much that I was unable to cross it. The only desire going on in my mind was that I should warn you about that hovering eagle and tell you to leave the park as soon as possible. My breathing had started like a bellows, and I was unable to speak a single word.

While I was trying my best to cross the shadow, I felt as if you had walked and reached behind that tomb. For a moment, I felt relieved. You must have realized the danger hovering over your head. Even if that were not the case because of the way you were walking, that was not safe. I was tired and out of breath.

Finally, I sat down, panting, on a stone near the tomb. I was unable to do anything, but I was thinking that as soon as you came out from behind the tomb, I would shout and ask you to run out of the park. The eagle was still hovering over our heads. Then I felt that you had come out from behind the tomb. A gust of wind blew, and you started walking straight towards the gate.

"Rima!" I shouted.

But you had gone far ahead and almost reached the gate. I got up and somehow started walking towards you. I wanted to tell you, "It is good that you escaped the claws of the eagle, Rima."

You had stopped near the gate, and I felt as if you smiled at me and then turned your back and disappeared from my sight.

I ran to the gate. I started feeling relieved, thinking that you had come out of the park safely. I looked up. The eagle was not there. The eagle had gone. The sky was clear, and its blueness had returned despite the light haze. I felt my panic subside a bit, hesitating about how to face you back home.
