Rambo, The Gorilla

When I hear about Gorillas, it sounds like Guerrilla, a warfare method with skilled people called guerrillas. I am sure you all know what guerrilla warfare is.

Guerrilla is a Spanish word, which means small battle groups or small military units that attack the enemy unaware and cause them heavy damage.

That means the principle of guerrilla soldiers is 'hit and run.' They suddenly attack and disappear. They have very little equipment, so they quickly disappear after attacking.

But this story is different and begins in a dense and lush green forest, where a huge gorilla Rambo is living a happy life with his friends and loved ones. This gorilla had a big heart and he always helped his friends.

One night Rambo had a dream, he saw his jungle turned into a desert and barren land. He woke up and got worried. He was thinking in case this dream would come true.

One day some people come to the jungle who are destroying the forest by cutting trees and this big ape and his friends get worried seeing that their home is in danger.

There was a strange commotion in the jungle as these people came to the forest and started cutting trees and were not listening to anyone. The gorilla and his friends saw that their home was in danger.

Dabboo, a friend of Rambo, said, "We have to do something! If these people keep cutting trees like this, then our forest will be finished!"

Guerilla Rambo thought and said, "We have to make these people understand how important the forest is for us."

Dabboo said, "These are humans and they will not listen. We have to do something else."

Rambo and Dabboo made a plan together. They gathered all the animals in the forest and called a meeting. All the animals shared their problems and finally, it was decided that they would face the humans together.

Rambo said, "We will all together do a big demonstration. We will show the humans how important the forest is for us." All the animals agreed and started preparing for the demonstration.

The next day, all the animals gathered near the humans under the leadership of Rambo and started shouting, "Save the forest! Save the trees!"

Rambo moved forward and looked at the humans. There was a strange determination in his eyes. The humans were surprised and started wondering why these animals were so upset.

Rambo said in his grave voice, "Our home is in danger! If you don't stop cutting trees, we will all have to run away from here!"

The humans listened to Rambo and saw not only fear but also a strange determination in his eyes.

"Why do you feel we shall harm you by cutting a few trees?" one of them asked.

Rambo said, "Do you know, that jungles are home to biodiversity, providing habitats for countless species of plants and animals? They support more than half of the world’s population including you guys and we the animals, plants, and insects, making them vital for preserving biodiversity and preventing our extinction?"

The humans realized that this gorilla was right, and this forest is not only the home of thousands of animals but also important for the earth. They put down their tools and decided to leave the forest.

Rambo and Dabboo were happy. They said to the humans, "If you help us, we will show you the beauty of the forest." The humans agreed and slowly started working to improve the forest.

After a little while this forest became home to happy animals, and provided habitats for countless other species and plants. This forest now supports animals, plants, insects, and all creatures living in that area.

So are we humans ready to join Rambo and his friends in saving our environment and let all of us live happily together?

Oh, I don't think things will turn out that happily in reality... Did you happen to see ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ about Diane Fossey, who lived with a horde of gorillas on Borneo...?

True, we have reached to a point where all avenues close and there is no UTurn.

With the rapid growth of urbanization, preserving forest and wildlife isn’t really an easy task. Indeed, we need more animals like Rambo to educate humans on the importance of this forest and the impact it has in the environment.

Rambo is just a symbolic creature but I am sure a human is worse than a Gorilla who will never listen to him no matter what!
