Just curious, are there Slavs in Ukraine?

Yes, you guessed it, Ukrainians were formed from several ancient Slavic tribes that were the basis of the medieval country known as Kyivan Rus. We still have strong family traditions, although they are influenced by generally accepted modern trends. For 21 years, Ukrainians peacefully coexisted with another indigenous people of our country, which is Muslim. These are Crimean Tatars. Unfortunately, this nation is currently going through incredibly dramatic times and I am not sure that it will survive. The Crimean Tatars taught us that Christianity and Islam can live in peace and harmony and that we do not have so many differences.
