Steemit Crypto Academy Feedback.

in SteemitCryptoAcademy3 years ago
I consider it as my honour to be heard by someone. Although, I don't consider myself as a right person to give any suggestion or point out any fault because we are having much experienced people on board. However, I'll be doing so in a good faith and intention to have a better working environment.

Seeking feedback from students reflects the optimistic ideology of people at work on the academy. I have been participating in the cryptoacademy from season one. I have participated in all the seasons of cryptoacademy . Infact , I have participated in contests organised by Steemitblog before commencement of academy courses. I was boosted to participate in all the seasons when I was declared as winner in I love Bitcoin contest hosted by Steemitblog. At that time , my repo was in 50s. Since than, I have worked very hard despite my busy schedule at work. I owe my all crypto knowledge to the Cryptoacademy.

What worked well with the Academy

All the professors have worked diligently to teach students various concepts related to crypto trading. I believe, Teaching means to learn twice . All the professors have worked very hard to touch diverse trading related topics. Some worth mentioning points are ;

  • Organisation of courses into three tiers is an adorable step that was introduced . The tier system promotes systematic learning as per the traders knowledge. By spending time in particular level, users are gradually polished up so as to have smooth transition into succeeding level.

  • Selection of topics within the tiers does coincide with the level of students. Topics are wisely choosen by professors to suit the level of students.

  • Fixed introductory courses that are set to no expiry is a wonderful initiative to carve the way into weekly courses. However, there is random topic selection there. So scope of improvement is there.

  • Level and grading based reward system does facilitate creation of quality content by users. Before the introduction of grading, tasks were randomly voted by curators and were therefore over burdened. But now, things are going smooth.

  • Multiple homework tasks within each level does promote learning alongside earning and propel students to work hard so as to participate in most of the tasks.

What did not work well

Before I put forth my submission, I would clearly mention it that the below mentioned points are solely based on my experience and you have every right to disagree with me. Let's begin :

  • There is complete lack of organisation of content even withinn the levels. Although there has been extensive coverage of topics within the academy but without organisation. For example, students must be familiarised with the knowledge of price action first and than moved to indicators. Similarly, knowledge of bockchains etc has been so messy that it is difficult to integrate the concepts properly.

  • There are too many regulations like 150 SP, club5050, repo requirement, SP requirements etc. I do comply with all. I have crossed club75 and shortly I'll be eligible for club100 but as for my interaction with people is concerned, club5050 is difficult for majority to abide. I would suggest to make it optional with extra rewards instead of compulsory with no additional rewards. Similarly, those doing club75 or club100 deserve extra rewards. For some people, mandatory 150 SP up has made their participation difficult and some ( I know)didn't participate at all.

  • Students with advanced repo participate in intermediate and basic levels and get good grades and thereby quality for weakly rewards and thereby deprive the students of concerned levels of their rights.

  • Some tasks posted by professors demand use of sophisticated and advanced hardware which is sheer injustice for students. I have earlier highlighted one task that made me to change 3 laptops but still couldn't finish the task as that demanded more than that. Similar issue was later raised by many other students.

  • Homework tasks mist be balanced. At times, the length of homework tasks is disproportionately more than the corresponding level based rewards.

  • Some tasks of intermediate and even basic demand performing real trades on the basis of task. Keeping the uncertainty of crypto market in view, it is not sane to expect a basic or intermediate level trader to be able to trade any strategy by just learning it's theory. To facilitate learning, a demo trade does suffice.

  • Neither professors nor co-professors answer the queries or complaints of students satisfactorily. Once I asked query related to some question, I received reply after more than 24 h and the provided solution didn't work. By than the task expired and I ended up wasting my precious time and getting nothing.

How you would improve the Academy ? What changes would you make for future seasons of the Academy?

  • I would make a proper structure of course within each level. it should be such that, students qualifying for intermediate levels are well verse with the basics in a properly structured manner unlike the mosaic pattern that was there.

  • I would not restrict entry or participation in any course but would bar qualification of higher level users for weakly rewards in lower level .

  • I would make club5050 optional with additional rewards for those who participat in it and also additional rewards for club75 and club100 users.

  • I would abandon the 150 SP rule and lower repo for advanced courses from 65 to 61.

  • To promote plagiarism free content, I would ban those students, for at least one week, who are found posting plagiarized content.

  • I would like to promote healthy interaction on posts of authors by mini votes to quality comments. People are busy posting content and do not take interaction with other authors seriously.

  • Number of posts that remain uncurated despite grading need to be reduced to bare minimum for the greater interests of the community.

What did you think of the marking scheme for Academy posts? And the rewards available?

Grading of homework tasks is a wonderful initiative to promote posting of quality content. Everyone likes to get good grades and rewards thereby. But there is no uniform scale of grading. Different professors use different criterias while marking the content. I would suggest to develop uniform criterias of marking. Suppose, a fixed five point scale is formed like Quality, originality, depth, complaince and structure. All the professors should make use of such a uniform criteria to grade the homework instead of following their customised way of marking. In this way, students will get familiarised with areas to focus on and would promote uniformity and avoid any confusion.

Secondly, some professors make use of question based marking scheme. The marks must be fixed at the time of posting homework by professor, so that students get to know the expectationa of professor and depth of analysis needed.

As for rewards are concerned, there is need to improve the percentage of votes from SC02. As steem is a volatile crypto like others, price keeps on fluctuating and therefore fixed rewards don't suffice always. It can understood by rewards on advanced posts in last 2 weeks of season 5. Moreover, when club5050 is mandatory, rewards aren't satisfactory.

Enjoy, Learning, Inspiration from academy.

I enjoyed the knowledge that I gained from Academy because it hastened and smoothed my journey into the trading. With basic kick from academy, I joined online trading course of stock maket to streamline the content and concepts. Honestly speaking, except orientation of course, I learned nothing more than what was being taught in academy and some specific stock related concept.

My crypto portfolio
Cryptoacademy did a job of laying a foundation stone for my real life trading. As of now, I am doing real crypto trading. Before joining academy, I had just heard of terms like stock market and crypro market but it has become possible with the help of academy that my current crypto portfolio is 600k Indian rupees (BNB, WRX, CRV , DOT , XRP) .And in first 10 days of year 2022 , I had profit of 50K indian rupees. I owe all this to academy. I salute all professors and steemit team.

Conclusion

Steemit Cryptoacademy is a wonderful initiative that has promoted real life learning experiamce and created opportunities for people to learn and earn from cryoto trading. We are eagerly waiting for new season to unfold with new learning and earning opportunities.

Sort:

Good to see you learned and practically used it to get a better portfolio.

Not sure what regulation comes in India regarding Crypto, but hold WRX tightly because you have good quantity, it will be the next BNB.

Really I don't have a single rupees when WRX was between INR 5 -6 and missed hugely, currently waiting for a good chance.

One Tip: You may have learned good in regards to the Technical study. Look and think about Cudos (CUDOS), this is not for investment intension, please do own study before investing.

There are too many regulations like 150 SP, club5050, repo requirement, SP requirements etc.
For some people, mandatory 150 SP up has made their participation difficult and some ( I know)didn't participate at all.

😔, even cant send feedback

Actually, it is my trading portfolio. I am not holding WRX, I either trade it or use it as trading fee. But you are absolutely right to correlate it with BNB. I am on mission to have good capital from trading and than I'll start longterm investment.

Thanks.

Impressive sir,

I would like to promote healthy interaction on posts of authors by mini votes to quality comments. People are busy posting content and do not take interaction with other authors seriously.

I agree on this point at 500% because a community is built majorly on the basis of communication and interaction. Most times we even learn from the work of others. Some people's work even encourage you to work harder

Hi @drqamu

I agree with you on most of the points you make.

It is true what you say about the need to organize content, sometimes not having an organized scheme tends to cause confusion when we are in a learning process.

It is also true that sometimes the level of complexity of the tasks makes it difficult to prepare them, some are so complicated that in my case I could not even finish and this made me feel frustrated.

In any case, the level of demand is good because it helps us to challenge and improve ourselves, but if we can understand the learning structure, we could reach those gaps or voids that prevent us from understanding some concepts.

The organization of the content would make the learning process easier.

It's great that you were able to trade successfully, I'm still learning lol.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I enjoyed reading you 😊

Actually I am not concerned about the complexity of questions but about the hardware devices that are used. In my cases, devices were not compatible and I couldn't finish the task because of device incompatibility despite knowing the task.

Thanks

You have provided valid suggestions like 150SP. It is because of that, i couldn't participate in last season.

Be active on the platform, you can do better.

Actually other activities are not supported on the platform.

That's not the case. Indulge in multiple activities.

Great post my friend: I agree in almost all your point.

Thank you

Students with advanced repo participate in intermediate and basic levels and get good grades and thereby quality for weakly rewards and thereby deprive the students of concerned levels of their rights.

I agree with your point of view, but a user with an advanced repo can't get a bigger prize if he gets the highest rank I think it's illogical, because if that's the case, using an advanced or intermediate repo will make bad posts. There must also be a clear structure. For example, users have to choose at the beginning of the season, whether to join an advanced, intermediate, or beginner class. If you have joined one of these classes, you cannot join other classes. But I think this is not possible

homework tasks mist be balanced. at times, the length of homework tasks is disproportionately more than the corresponding level based rewards.

For this point, I 100% agree with you because last season there were several homework assignments that reached 10 questions in the Intermediate class. Not suitable for intermediate class with 10 questions.

I would make club5050 optional with additional rewards for those who participate in it and also additional rewards for club75 and club100 users.

Totally agree with your opinion. However, in the previous season, the prizes were the same for users who participated in club75, club5050, and club100.

I would abandon the 150 SP rule and lower repo for advanced courses from 65 to 61.

Agreed, I prefer this rule removed. However for repos no problem I think.

To promote plagiarism free content, I would ban those students, for at least one week, who are found posting plagiarized content.

I Agree with you.

The more rules that are enforced, the fewer users will participate, and this will harm the steem ecosystem, because social media really needs users. A real example has occurred in the Utopian.io era, after Utopian.io imposed strict regulations, people started to lose interest and many steem users stopped, causing steem to be distraught until it had to be sold and the price of steem was really broken at that time.

You failed to understand what I mean. There should be no restriction on participating in any course. I am talking of weekly rewards. Suppose, if 10 advanced repo users and 10 beginner level users participate in a beginners level homework. There is higher probability that advanced users get top 3 weekly ranks. So beginners are deprived of weekly rewards. On the other hand, if advanced users are not eligible for weekly rewards, they will still make good quality posts to get better rewards excluding weekly. At the same time, three beginners will be rewarded weekly and would help beginners grow fast and encourage them to produce quality content.

The more rules that are enforced, the fewer users will participate, and this will harm the steem ecosystem, because social media really needs users.

You are right.

Thank you.

I think it’s the main reason they bring all these rules, to minimize the number of users in the academy. This way no pressure will be much on curators

No that's not the sole reason. Rules are in place to promote creation of quality content and prevent users from spamming the system.

It should not happen, the less people who use steemit the closer to destruction. basically all platforms and social media need their users.

Hello, they do need users, but not just any user. And today there are many people who are willing to follow the rules. What networks need are users who engage, and this can be done by users who are committed to the system.

yes I know that, but system and user are inseparable. There will always be someone trying to manipulate the system, we just need to catch him but don't involve other users. Because if people get bored and burdened with lots of rules, they will stop playing and that will also be a loss for the platform. Correct me if it's wrong.

Of course, so that the rules are not boring, the rewards must be consistent.
But what I do believe is that like every game there should be levels of difficulty and the higher the difficulty, the greater the rewards.

I agree that yes, there can be many users and you have to attract them, but that differentiation must exist to encourage climbing to higher levels and then the desired quality can exist.

But obviously a platform like Steemit will not reward users just for being present. I don't know if I explain myself.
If you are rewarded just for being there, it will be difficult to control spam, plagiarism and poor quality.

absolutely agree with you. We are not reward just to be present in steemit, but we must try and publish the post as best we can.

the rewards must be consistent.

This is what has been missing recently at SCA 😝.

Yes, I think SCA so far is consistent.
It is good to incorporate some improvements.
And surely if you are very good you will get good grades and good rewards 😊

In general I agree with you 100%, the more rules are implemented the more users will be left out, that is to say a lot of users with great potential in the academy would be left out of it, therefore I want to say that it would be a great opportunity,

If all the options would be optional and not mandatory, this way they could get more interactions,

I really do not know the motivations of the mods and admins and what really benefits them within the ecosystem if having fewer users in the community or more users to support them. it would be a matter of them talking to us clearly and that way we can understand them better because I really do not understand this part is deeper. many people talk about that there are users who want to follow the rules but this is by necessity and not because they want to say the motivation then this is not democratic if not an imposition so I said in my post we should reach a means of voting where all active users can express their true decisions democratically.

There is no advantage at all for the admin if many users stop following SCA or stop using steemit, in fact it will be a loss for steemit because it will bring bad effects such as negative issues, not fully decentralized and so on. I personally also don't know exactly why we have to enforce all these rules. Indeed, the rules are necessary, but they do not have to burden all members of the community.

Let's hope, the team listens to all our complaints.

it is really strange what happens with enforcing rules to participants or content creators. as we really strive every day and commit to the community to do high quality work. i really agree and would like clear answers to follow the rules from the administrators. what they really need or it suits them so we can work together for the benefit of both. i talk about attracting more people i have the potential and can bring hundreds of people but i don't know what they want so i'm at stop.

In reality we all have one goal, which is to see this platform continue to grow and become more and more successful. Maybe it's just a different way. I believe the team wants that too, but in their own way. We just need to try harder and give our opinion if it is accepted.

You know, the previous steemit owner @ned never wanted to listen to feedback and criticism from the community, but the current steemit team I think is very involved with the community and wants to listen to complaints from its users.

Very good post friend. Agree with you. It happened to me with the matter of "going deeper into the subject", they did not explain to me what it refers to. Because we give an answer of four or five paragraphs and we have not yet delved into the subject, then as a teacher the point must be clarified. Hopefully they take into account everything we have discussed. Greetings!

I am delighted to see that people are able to correlate their issues with my feedbacks.

Thanks.

I still don't understand some professors' concept of the word 'originality', because even when one's article is free from plagiarism, they'll still give you 1.5 or 1.2/2 score. Some professors will undergrade you because of one missing watermark on one screenshot.

You are absolutely right. I agree with both the points. Hope for the best in next season.

We hope so

I'm sure you'd make a very fine Professor. Dr Qamu.

I hope your feedback hits the spot light sir. THe crypto academy is really not well structured this season. Last 2 season we had active users going up to a 1000+ in the C.A this season only had 300+ active posters in the community. I hope they improve on the rules and make the platform grat again

Yeah I expect some favourable improvements.
