Blockchain, Decentralization, Block Explorer - Steemit Crypto Academy Season 5 - Homework Post For Task 4 By @niglys8
INTRODUCTION
Greetings! Members of the Steemit Crypto Academy Community. I am here again to submit my homework post for the Task 4 introductory course anchored by our amiable steemit Crypto Academy professor @yousafharoonkhan. I will be answering the third (3rd) question for Task 4 on the topic "BLOCKCHAIN, DECENTRALIZATION, BLOCK EXPLORER"
(3) WHAT IS A BLOCK EXPLORER? AND WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE AND USE? SEARCH FOR DIFFERENT CRYPTOCURRENCY BLOCK EXPLORERS AND LIST THEM BELOW. AT LEAST FIVE DIFFERENT CRYPTO CURRENCIES. ALSO EXPLORE THE TRANSACTION OF A CRYPTO COIN ON BLOCK EXPLORER AND EXPLAIN WITH THE HELP OF SCREENSHOT.
What is a block explorer?
In getting the full definition of a block explorer we may look at dividing the word into "BLOCK" and "EXPLORER".
- A block is the building part of the blockchain which contains data on successful or unsuccessful transactions done over a period of time.
- An explorer is simply like a search engine giving you access to specific data or information.
A block explorer in general is a blockchain tool used by traders who buy and sell cryptocurrencies and miners to confirm some significant block activities, transaction growth, addresses used, values and volume of assets and other valuable informations on the blockchain. They can also compare and contrast market data along with blockchain transactions. Every cryptocurrency has a particular block explorer that is peculiar to them.
And what is its purpose and use?
The purpose and uses of a block explorer are as follows;
A block explorer is used by miners to know the actual block activities and to know if a particular block have been successfully created.
It is also used by cryptocurrency users to track market performance such as a coin circulating supply, market capitalization etc.
A block explorer, is used to get the summary of any transaction by searching with the transaction hash. The summary of any transaction provides information about the sender's address, the receiver's address, the transaction status, number of confirmations and also the time stamp.
It can also be used to get details of any activity like voting, commenting etc. that is made on a blockchain e.g Tron. Such details include the voting percentage, the sender, the receiver, the timestamp, the transaction number etc
The block explorer helps a user to check the time a transaction was confirmed and the number of confirmations of the transaction.
It is also used to search the username of any user of cryptocurrency
Search For Different Cryptocurrency Block Explorers And List Them Below. At Least Five Different Crypto Currencies?
Based on this task research, I'll be listing the block explorer of the cryptocurrencies below;
- STEEM
- TRON
- BITCOIN
- ETHEREUM
- SOLANA
These are the different Block Explorers of the cryptocurrencies I listed above;
Steem
Tron
Bitcoin
Ethereum
Solana
Also Explore The Transaction Of A Crypto Coin On Block Explorer And Explain With The Help Of Screenshot
For the purpose of this task, I'll explore the transaction of the Tron crypto coin using tronscan.org Block Explorer.
TRON
- Step 1: Firstly, search on goggle browser for Tron block explorer.
I used the first link that appeared on my goggle search results tronscan.org
- Step 2: When it loads, the recent tokens is seen on the hot search which shows the most researched coins on the tron ecosystem.
Other most interesting features are that can also be seen here are;
- Blocks
- Transactions
- TVL
- Stable coin
- Account
- Resources
- Contract calls
- TRX circulating and staking.
One interesting feature of the Tronscan.org explorer is that it shows a clear view of the current price of Tron, it's market cap and market volume as seen in the picture screenshot above.
- Step 3: I input my Tron address in the search box to check the transaction details of my Tron wallet.
- Step 4: When it loads, the date and time on which the account was created, name, tag, total balance, TRX balance, transactions, bandwidth, energy, Tron power and un-withdrawn voting reward is seen or displayed.
- Step 5: Below the page, the token balances, transactions, transfers, internal transactions, votes, stake details, contract published, analysis, approval and portfolio is seen.
- Step 6: To check for transaction and transaction hash, click on transactions and click on start time (UTC) as shown in the image below;
- Step 7: Using this transaction on 137 days 5 hours ago, you will see the overview of the block details showing the block height, block hash, time etc
The above steps explains how to successfully explore the transaction of the Tron crypto coin tronscan.org Block Explorer.
CONCLUSION
I am glad I have learnt and understood how the different block explorers for the cryptocurrencies works. I have gained a lot of knowledge in this particular task I must confess as I can now search for any user's information or transactions made on any block explorer on my own.
