Make God the only supplier of your need

Shortly before each month end, many salary earners usually run dry. Resources dwindle especially if salaries are delayed. Many also who depend on salary earners to survive have their own tales to tell on supplies. It is usually at this time that the eyes of so many is upon the government and the employer as the clock ticks and the calendar days shift. What a relief when the salary is eventually paid. Salary or no salary, it is good to remember at such times of expectation that our greatest bank is in heaven and that God is the supplier. That is what Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Do you believe this? Many who believe this verse also believe vv11-13, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Some people cannot stand a few hours of hunger, thirst or lack. Once bread and butter are absent, they believe that God is not present. What? As Paul learned to abound and be abased, serve God not just for the bread but that He is God.

The need to effectively manage our resources is also essential as we consider this. What do you say of one who spends almost all the resources as soon as salaries are paid? Irrespective of how fat the salary is, there is always nothing to save. He lives either from hand to mouth or on extravagant purchases. Some have lived so much on debts that the next salary is already spent before it is collected. While we pray to God to always supply all our needs, we need to remember to learn to live as pilgrims who can abound or be abased. We also should learn to manage available resources under God so that God’s resources are judiciously spent. May God continues to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen.
