November's Community of the Month Applications - Episode I

in Mosquito Squishers3 years ago (edited)

With each monthly launch of the community support program, we get to see applications from the large number of communities, many of which we are familiar with. It's also an opportunity for the lesser known communities to make themselves known to us so let's get under the hood of a few of them. Today, I present to you...

Steem Movies

▶ Application

As one of the youngest communities on the platform at just 21 days old, it's impressive to see 90 subscribers and 69 active posters. What's more impressive, is that the large majority of these 90 subscribers and 69 active posters are even newer than the community itself.

@open-theworld - Remember him? He left the platform 28 days ago after @xaviduran exposed his fraudulent contest. Yet he's resurfaced to help boost community numbers...

A little bit odd don't you think?

Subscribing to just 2 communities - the one he abused and now this one.

So let's focus on the man behind Open the World - @ibrahim7869... oh my oh my... do my eyes deceive me?

Well I never. He's one of the moderators here too. I wonder if that was the rat I smelt.

I might as well continue by reviewing a few posts as running this many profiles tends to result in plagiarism but first, a word from our applicants...

We are very strict about plagiarism, so we try to keep the community clean of this bad habit.Admin and Moderator check about plagiarism post.We are highly strict about content farming, duplicate accounts and fake accounts.

🤔

Let's start with this post - Movie review [2.0 movie review] - 4 days old now, 10 comments desperate for #club5050 support and an admin upvote so obviously checked for plagiarism...

2.0 is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language science fiction action film[3][7] written and directed by S. Shankar, and co-written by B. Jeyamohan.

Well, that's clearly a wikipedia reference there. Oh look, it's from wikipedia

Fancy another?

At least this one admitted plagiarising their content.

I'm out of time. I'd like to think this community is too.

I seriously doubt that this community was ever in line for the community support program given the laziness in trying to fool the Steem Team but we might as well finish them off.

What users do to receive the benefit of the steemit team and the steemcurator by creating ghost communities with accounts that obviously belong to the same user, I recently created a science community and I do not have the need to do this to create a fake account and plagiarized publications. But I have noticed that many new accounts are being created and subscribing in all the communities.

Now my question is if all these accounts belong to a single user, how on earth does he get so many phone numbers to associate the account he is creating.

🤷‍♂️

Nice one !

Keep them coming...

Thank you

👍 All of the other communities applying are either well established (and will be very familiar to you so I haven't reviewed them) or new (with relatively little activity that doesn't look suspicious) - this appears to be the only dodgy one and I'm already looking forward to what they come up with for December 😆

That's why i have strongly decided to come up with them to play a tight match ;)
As growing of the steem and specially the offer of monthly support program this put many lazy people in full greed they want shortcuts to get $.
Anyways good step 👍

Steem movies is full of spammers. Also, the posts are also translated and plasiarised.

Almost certainly! I reached the point where investigating further would've been overkill 🧨🧨🧨💥

🤣🤣🤣 It's a quite impressive trick, I guess. Artificially increasing the number of active posters!

It is unfortunate to see how there are people who maintain their idea of benefiting by scamming and deceiving others that if we believe in the platform, the good thing is that there are others who are not willing to allow it like you @endingplagiarism
Personally, I was affected by the consequences of what happened with OpentheWorld, I have stopped publishing because of that, since I do not receive votes, I still think not to give up and continue with my macros as soon as I can buy a new phone, since the one I used was damaged.
Great job unmasking scammers. Cheers

Many thanks for the recognition @endingplagiarism, It motivates a lot.

I have posted another 'neutron bomb' in the world of @xpilar. If you have time take a look at it.

Many thanks for responding.
