Solar Electrical Learning Part-22||Week-22||Upgrading our home's 10 year old solar system (20 watts).

in Solar Steem2 months ago

Steemian Friends,
Today, I will write about dealing with my home solar panel problem. I installed a 20-watt panel in my village house in 2014 to light two 3-watt lamps. Ten years ago, solar systems were not as updated as they are now. Back then, 20-watt panels were more common as mini solar systems. My parents lived in the village house, so I installed a solar system for their convenience.

Today, I found the solar system's charger controller broken. I purchased a new 12-volt and 10-amp charger controller. I opened the old charger controller. Then, I connected the battery charger point and load. I put in a 30 AH battery. I have a battery backup system in my house just to keep the lights on when the power grid supply goes off.

My previous battery gave about three years of backup. Currently, the backup time of the old battery is reduced, so I bought a new battery and installed it. Old batteries can be sold in our country, so I sold the old battery to the store and bought a new one. My solar panel capacity is low, so I took a low-ampere battery.

My father died a few days ago. The solar panel was used to light a room when my father was ill. My father felt very comfortable lighting the lamp through the solar system when the power supply was cut off. The electricity situation in our country is very bad. In particular, the load-shedding of electricity in village houses is very high.

I did not come home with my electricity meter. So I put my uncle's charger controller to check the charger controller. I found the old charger controller's power supply indicator light off. Then I realized the charger controller was broken. I will take the charger controller to my office, check it with a meter, and try fixing it.
