This distinguished artist was born on January 3, 1830 in the United Kingdom. He belonged to an economically well-off family, which was dedicated to import and export businesses.

His artistic training was received in distinguished European academies, including: Berlin Academy of Arts, Florence Academy and Royal Academy of Art, Heatherley School of Fine Art,

He belonged to the artistic movements: Academicism and Pre-Raphaelite. His works stand out for recreating themes from Greek mythology.

He died on January 25, 1896 in London, England, at the age of 66.
