The first time he photographs a dying star up close

On November 21, the Southern European Observatory informed us that a group of astronomers had obtained for the first time a close-up photo of a star from another galaxy. Close-up photos are photos where you can see the surface of a star and in this case , it is about a dying star called WOH G64.

It is in the Great Magellanic Cloud about 160,000 light years away. It is also going to explode in the form of a supernova. The Great Magellanic Cloud is one of the small galaxies that orbit the Milky Way where we live. Let's see, it is 35,000 light years in diameter and has approximately 30,000 million stars. I am convinced that there must be some planet out there with life in the cloud. Magellan, but I hope it is not close to this star.

The Great Magellanic Cloud is visible to the naked eye in the Earth's southern hemisphere and appears to have been captured for the first time in the year 964 by an astronomer named Abd Al-Rahman Al Sufi. However, although it is seen in the southern hemisphere, it is also seen occasionally at certain times of the year from southern Arabia, however, it was Magellan who made it known to the rest of the world since on his trip he evidently recorded the new stars and constellations. what I was seeing, keep in mind that at that time the Stars and constellations were basic elements to be able to navigate between oceans, between continents and between Islands.

It must have been very disconcerting for the Sailors to see that they had arrived in a part of the planet where the constellations were completely different, which is why they began to talk about the new world, because in that place the stars were different from what they knew in the northern hemisphere.

Capturing this star so closely was possible thanks to the Very Large Telescope of the Southern European Observatory located in northern Chile. The new observations have revealed that this star is expelling gas and dust and is in the last stages before becoming a supernova, according to Lead researcher Ohnaka said we have discovered an egg-shaped cocoon that closely surrounds the star.

This cocoon is related to the drastic expulsion of matter from the dying Star before the supernova explosion. Astronomers have known this star for decades and have appropriately named it the red supergiant star that is going to explode. It has been known for decades. time but there was no image as close as what we have now, this incredible image.

It has a gigantic size, it is approximately 2000 times the size of our sun. If we had divine power and could remove the sun and place this star in its place, it would be so big that it would swallow Mercury, Venus, the earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, alone. Uranus and Neptune would be saved and although for a short time, that is, if this star originally formed planets in the dimension putting the dimension of the solar system with respect to this star, only those planets that were at a distance similar to that of Uranus and Neptune from the Sun. And these will survive for a very short time because the supernova explosion will end up disintegrating them.
