It’s commonly called Lagerstroemia indica, the crape myrtle which is a species of flowering plant in the genus Lagerstroemia of the family of Lythraceae.
It’s native to the Indian Subcontinent & also to Southeast Asia, China, Japan & Korea.
It’s medically useful to humans as the paste of the flowers is applied externally to heal cuts & wounds. The root is astringent, detoxicant & diuretic while decoction of the flowers is normally used in the treatment of colds.
