Myoga ginger or Japanese ginger is the species Zingiber mioga in the family of Zingiberaceae. It’s a deciduous herbaceous perennial native to the Japan, China & the southern part of Korea.
Only its edible flower buds & flavorful shoots are used in cooking food.
Basically these unique ginger buds are more commonly used in the Japanese cuisine that one would expect which can be eaten fresh or pickled respectively. Another easiest way to enjoy myoga is to finely shred the fresh flower buds & use it as a garnish in your dishes such as sushi, sashimi, soups, cold noodles, salads, & in vinegared salads.
It’s free to use stock photo at will.
