This beautiful flower is commonly known as Plumbago auriculata, blue plumbago, the cape leadwort or Cape plumbago is a lovely species of flowering plant in the family of Plumbaginaceae, it’s native to South Africa.
The specific epithet auriculata means ‘with ears’, which is referring to the common shape of the leaves.
It’s traditionally used to treat warts, broken bones & wounds.
It’s also taken as a snuff for headaches & as an emetic to dispel some bad dreams.
Some traditional practices revealed that a stick of the plumbago is placed in the thatch of huts to ward off lightning.
It’s free to use stock photo at will.
