How can blockchain help healthcare? |

Blockchain being a decentralised ledger (record) would be a wonderful piece of technology if added in healthcare as it would serve as a super secure ledger (record) keeping all patient information safe and easily accessible.
It would help immensely in the healthcare sector by ensuring that medical records are tamper-proof and transparent. That is, any doctor no matter the hospital can easily access a patient's complete medical history quickly and securely without hustle, which will bring about better and more efficient care. Whereas, it can also help in tracking the authenticity of drugs and test results, making sure they're not counterfeit.
Are there any blockchain-based healthcare applications currently in use? |

With the emergency of the Blockchain technology and its application in different sectors, the health sector are also looking to benefit from such technology as some blockchain-based healthcare applications have been created so far. Examples of such applications are;
Medicalchain
This application allows patients to securely store and share their medical records with healthcare providers, making it a super secure digital filing cabinet for their health information with each patient having their own virtual locker, and only authorized doctors can access it, keeping their medical history is safe and easily accessible when needed.
Coral Health
Coral Health is another blockchain application that focuses on improving communication and data sharing among different healthcare providers using blockchain technology. This application is said to act like a digital translator that helps different healthcare systems across the world speak the same language. Therefore the Coral Health application ensures that patient information flows smoothly and securely between doctors and hospitals, making sure everyone is on the same page.
What are some challenges in implementing blockchain in the health sector? |

The law of physics says that for every action, there is a reaction, and that in life every advantage bears its own disadvantages hence implementing blockchain in the health sector comes with its fair share of challenges, of which includes:
Data Privacy Concerns
One big challenge is ensuring that sensitive health data stored on the blockchain remains private and secure. We all consider blockchain technology to be super secure and decentralised, hence the challenge would be ensuring that only authorized people can access this data to protect patient privacy.
Interoperability Issues
Interoperability in this case is all about getting different healthcare systems to work together using blockchain. It's like trying to get everyone to speak the same language, which is all about ensuring all systems communicating and sharing data seamlessly, which is a key factor for blockchain to be effective.
Regulatory Compliance
Healthcare has lots of rules and regulations to protect patients, therefore adapting blockchain technology to meet these regulations can be tricky. It could be like fitting a square peg into a round hole. For example, Healthcare is mainly secrecy between providers and patients, while Blockchain is about cutting the secrecy out, making accessible by anyone. Therefore, finding ways to make blockchain comply with healthcare laws can be challenging.
Cost and Infrastructure
Setting up blockchain systems in healthcare can be expensive. Plus, not all healthcare facilities may have the right infrastructure or resources to implement blockchain smoothly. Hence finding ways to make it accessible to all is another big challenge.
