Lughaya is an ancient coastal town in the northwest of Awdal region. Administratively it belongs to Somaliland.

Lughaya is 50 km south of Djibouti port and 200 km north of Berbera district. It is also one of the largest cities in Awdal region. The inhabitants are herders and fishermen, it is famous for fish and camel milk. This district has a population of approximately 75,000 people.
