I don't think the northern Lights are difficult to remove. In automatic mode on a smartphone, yes, everything depends on the algorithm that is installed in the phone's camera.
If you shoot with a conventional camera, then you just need to take into account that radiance is a kind of light. But it's not a very bright light. However, it has a dynamic change in shape, brightness, and color. This means that the shutter speed should not be too long (despite the fact that it is night), otherwise the picture will be blurred. It is necessary to have time to take several pictures with different exposure settings. The focus can be set to infinity and not changed. Diaphragms... it all depends on what effect you want to get. The nature of the light depends on the aperture (when the aperture is clamped, for example, you will get rays from the headlights of a car, when open - blurred light spots). I think it is preferable to clamp the diaphragm (there will be a clearer picture). You can increase the ISO if necessary.
But this is just my speculative reasoning. In practice, everything can be more complicated or simpler. But I don't have that practice))

Не думаю, что северное сияние сложно снять. В автоматическом режиме на смартфон да, там всё зависит от алгоритма, который установлен в камере телефона.
Если снимать обычной камерой, то нужно просто учесть то, что сияние - это разновидность света. Но это не очень яркий свет. Однако, он имеет динамику изменения и формы, и яркости, и цвета. Значит выдержка не должна быть слишком длинной (несмотря на то, что это ночь), иначе снимок будет смазанным. Надо успеть сделать несколько снимков с разными настройками выдержки. Фокус можно установить на бесконечность и его не менять. Диафрагмы... тут всё зависит от того, какой эффект хочется получить. От диафрагмы зависит характер света (при зажатой диафрагме, например, ты получишь лучики от фар машины, при открытой - размытые световые пятна). Думаю, что предпочтительнее диафрагму зажать (будет более чёткая картинка). Можно увеличить ISO если будет такая необходимость.
Но это только мои умозрительные рассуждения. На практике всё может быть сложнее или проще. Но у меня нет такой практики))
