There is no doubt that there is a surprising aspect in your story, but do not think too much about it, in fact she too must like chana (chickpeas) like you, and chana is usually cooked that dayin our Hindu families. That girl must have guessed that you must have cooked it too.
Yes, it must have happened exactly like this. But sometimes we get surprised for a moment. And I have written this in my post that I am not superstitious. Because whatever work I do, I do it for the satisfaction of my heart and mind.
