The Interview Showcase #117: Exclusive Talk with A Ukrainian Blogger

in Hot News Community2 months ago (edited)

Hello people of Steem and Steemit,

It's a new week, welcome to the 117th edition of “The interview showcase...." and my 41st show for 2024.

If you are new to this page, this lifestyle program has many educational values. A weekly interview of users in the blog concerning some trending topics on the Steemit platform. And tips that can help other Steemians to progress positively and help boost the Steem’s growth.

It will help you to get to know more about Steemians around the globe and even Steem and Steemit itself.

I take time to look at some of the most important topics in the blockchain and have a chat/call with Steemians who have a greater idea about those topics.

They also share some tips that can help other users understand the blockchain and correctly use it. Sometimes they seek valuable suggestions here to help them solve some of their challenges.

@golden-rain's property

On this week's show, I featured @golden-rain a great disc jockey (DJ) from Ukraine who always keep up with the trending beats purely for entertainment.

Ubongudofot
: Hello Bohdan, it's nice to have you on my Interview Show case today, how will you describe your yourself?

🔶Golden-rain: Hello, thank you for the invitation. It’s wonderful that people from different regions of the world can meet here on Steemit to communicate and engage in a sort of "cultural exchange" (as life and traditions in our countries can be quite different).

I would describe myself as a creative and unconventional man who has followed the call of his heart and dreams throughout his life, unafraid to take risks and turn down other opportunities. Because of this, my destiny has been somewhat unconventional, but I cannot complain about my Fate, as it has been a chain of my own choices and actions.

Ubongudofot
: How old are you on STEEM? And how will you describe your experience on Steemit so far?

🔶Golden-rain: I have been on Steemit since 2018, so it's about 6 years. My experience on Steemit coincides with my own process of creative development. The person I am now is very different from who I was when I first joined Steemit. In 2016-2017. Cryptocurrencies blessed me financially, so I chose a quirky nickname "Golden Rain," meaning "money rain." Now, I would prefer to have a simple and modest nickname like "Bohdan," but I don’t change it just because people already know my blog by the current name.

Ubongudofot
: What has been your biggest achievement on Steemit?

🔶Golden-rain: Perhaps it’s very simple: I have started to genuinely connect with people. The war has changed me significantly in that I have begun to love my fellow countrymen, Ukrainians. My brother died on the front lines, and we all live daily under the threat of missile and drone attacks from the Russians. So when you know that a conversation with someone today could be the last one, because either I or that person might not survive the night, I can no longer be as rude as I used to be. I want to say something good and encouraging to people every day when we communicate.

Ubongudofot
: How do you choose topics for your blog posts?

🔶Golden-rain: Spontaneously and sporadically. I’m unable to write systematically on one topic or "on demand." However, I always write easily and quickly about what truly interests or concerns me at the moment. Because of this, my blog doesn’t have a specific theme. I understand that for blogging, it’s better when the author sticks to one subject—like, for example, if they write about sports, they should post only about sports every day (people are more likely to subscribe to such blogs). But personally, I find routine unbearable, so my choice of topics is dictated by my genuine interest on a given day.

Ubongudofot
: How have you contributed to Steem growth in your country?

🔶Golden-rain: For example, I created the anthem of the Ukrainian Steemit community, along with a music video. By the way, @antorv helped write the lyrics. You can listen to it here:

Ubongudofot
: Do you think STEEM can contribute to Ukraine's crypto ecosystem?

🔶Golden-rain: Due to the war, this is a challenging question for cryptocurrencies as a whole, not just for Steem in Ukraine. Cryptocurrencies have often been used by Russians to finance their agents in Ukraine (various spies, missile spotters, and other traitors), so cryptocurrencies have fallen out of favor in Ukraine. On our main exchange, Kuna, they even blocked the withdrawal of the national currency, the hryvnia, to bank cards, so people use P2P platforms, where speculators often charge us 7-8% fees when withdrawing money. Therefore, the question about the bright future of any cryptocurrency in the Ukrainian market should be postponed for now.

Ubongudofot
: You seems to have been doing great in the platform lately, what advice will you tell other users in your country to make such great progress?

🔶Golden-rain: Be yourself and be genuine, even if you feel like you’re not a model (of anything—morality, beauty, success, it doesn’t matter). Once I accepted the paradigm that any day I have a high chance of dying and might not have another opportunity to be myself, I started doing it.

The so-called "postponed life syndrome" isn’t just about delaying actions; it’s also about people wearing masks today, hoping that in the future they will finally be able to be their true selves. This is a mistake—don’t do that to your soul. Allow yourself to be who you are today and touch your true "self." In the last year or two, I’ve begun to rediscover the person I once was in childhood (not naive like a child, but authentic).

Ubongudofot
: Despite the challenges faced by Ukrainians presently do you think they are doing well on Steemit?

🔶Golden-rain: The Ukrainian community is very friendly, and many of these people have started forming friendships not only on Steemit but also beyond its boundaries. I believe this is a positive trend because not only should life be reflected in blogging, but blogging should also be reflected in life.

Ubongudofot
: Despite facing war situations in your country, how do you cope with your daily activities in real life and on Steem?

🔶Golden-rain: All of my income comes from online sources, so at times it can be challenging because of the Russians. Last winter, the Russians bombed our infrastructure so badly that I had electricity and internet for only 30 minutes every 4 hours. Trying to get anything done and earn money in such conditions is very difficult. The same (just a bit less intense) happened in the summer.

Right now, we are experiencing a period of stable electricity supply, but winter is approaching, and the Russians continue to bomb our power grid with missiles. So it’s quite possible that soon Ukrainians will again face limited access to the internet, including Steemit..

Ubongudofot
: Which user will you like me to interview in my show and why?

🔶Golden-rain: I would like you to invite @inspiracion. She is very creative and sensitive, with a deep understanding of psychology and philosophy. I'm convinced that a conversation with her will be interesting for both you and the readers.

Ubongudofot
: I have already featured her before..

Ubongudofot
: What is your pet peeve?

Golden-rain: I am most annoyed by people with an inflated sense of self-worth. You see, there are people who are actually three out of five but think they are 'five out of five.' Such people really irritate me, and I often belittled them in life. On the other hand, there are people who are genuinely four or five out of five' but consider themselves three out of five—I have always felt sorry for such acquaintances and tried to raise their self-esteem to an adequate level.

Ubongudofot
: What do you like doing in your leisure?

🔶Golden-rain: I love going on picnics to the pine forest in the suburbs of Oleksandriia. I prefer a small group, so it’s not noisy but rather meditative. Right now, I have very little free time because I spend about 10-12 hours a day working on music. If it weren’t for that, I would have also said that in my free time, I love making music!

Ubongudofot
: Which Ukranian music was popular when you were much younger?

🔶Golden-rain: In the 1990s, Ukrainian music really started to flourish. There were many bands, of course, but the first name that came to my mind is Iryna Bilyk. Here’s an example of one of her older songs. I see the track was uploaded to YouTube just 13 years ago, but in reality, I heard it at a disco back in 1998. Now, with a more developed musical ear, I can hear that the sound is quite muffled, especially the sub-basses are too muted. Perhaps it’s the fault of the person who uploaded it to YouTube, because I don’t remember the original track having such a muted sound.

Ubongudofot
: What's your favourite music?

🔶Golden-rain: I love House music the most and its various subgenres (Deep House, Electro House, Progressive House, Afro House, and Industrial House), and I focus on combining elements of these styles with Eurodance to find a new sound. I named this combination of House and Eurodance "wareHouse," referencing the name of a nightclub in Chicago where house music originated in the early 1980s.

Ubongudofot
: How important is family in Ukranian culture?

🔶Golden-rain: I believe that, at the moment, family is not as important in our culture as I would ideally like it to be. Constant wars and troubles have systematically severed our connections with our "roots," and I think that’s the reason. We need to defeat Russia and build a moat with crocodiles and an ice wall around ourselves, like in "Game of Thrones." Then, I think that in about 50 years of peace, our cultural heritage will become significantly stronger

Ubongudofot
: What's your favourite childhood memory?

🔶Golden-rain: Perhaps the trip with my mother to the "Forest Song" resort in central Ukraine for 10 days stands out the most. I was four and a half years old, but I vividly remember that place by the lake. I also recall trips with my grandfather, a beekeeper, to the apiary he took to the fields near the forest during the summer. I don’t like megacities, but I really love nature, and the moments of happiness from my early childhood are connected to the outdoors.

Ubongudofot
: * What's the biggest misconception people have about Ukraine and Ukrainians?*

🔶Golden-rain: I believe it's an UNDERESTIMATION of the courage, stubbornness, and tenacity of Ukrainians, particularly at the level of mentality, rather than just some artificial organization. When the war began, Russians boasted that they would take our capital, Kyiv, in three days. Meanwhile, American leaders were saying goodbye to our officials, believing they would no longer see them alive.

However, the predicted three days of war have gradually turned into almost three years. Ukrainians primarily repelled the first Russian invasion, all the tank columns, with weapons designed for guerrilla warfare (such as Javelins and similar equipment), while more powerful weapons were supplied to us much later. This demonstrated that both our allies and, first and foremost, our enemies, the Russians, had a fundamentally flawed understanding of Ukrainians and completely miscalculated their predictions..

Ubongudofot
: If you could have dinner with any Ukrainian historical figure, who would that be?

🔶Golden-rain: I would like to have dinner with Roksolana. She is a legendary Ukrainian beauty who later became the Sultaness of the Ottoman Empire and one of the most influential women in European history..

Ubongudofot
: If you had the power to change anything in the world, what would that be?

🔶Golden-rain: Our world is so 'imperfect' that almost everything needs to be changed. I believe that we gain the power to truly change something in the world only to the extent that we acquire wisdom. Therefore, first of all, I would like to change myself and humanity as a whole, and I would primarily ask God for more wisdom for all of us. Then many problems and evils in the world will resolve themselves..

Ubongudofot
: What's the story behind your name?

🔶Golden-rain: My name, Bogdan, in the Ukrainian language is an abbreviation of two words: 'God-given' (or 'given by God' for clearer understanding in English). My mother named me this because she couldn’t get pregnant for three years (there were miscarriages), so when the desired child finally held on and was born, it was a bit of a miracle in my parents’ eyes.

Ubongudofot
: Do you have any message to the Steemit team..?

🔶Golden-rain: Yes, I want to thank the Steemit team and express my deep gratitude to all the Steemit curators for their support throughout this summer and at the beginning of autumn. This is very important to me and helps me a lot during this difficult time, just like for other members of the Ukrainian community. I will always be your friend and supporter of Steemit. I hope I can repay you with some actions—such as creating some music tracks for Steemit or editing promotional videos. If you ever need this now or in the future, please feel free to reach out to me..

Ubongudofot
: What can you say about the Interview Showcase, do you think it is interesting and should be continued?

🔶Golden-rain: Keep doing what you’re doing. I believe it’s a valuable thing—you’re introducing different authors on the platform to one another. This also characterizes you personally very well — I mean that you think not only about yourself, but also try to get to know others better.

Ubongudofot
